Before watching this film, I didn't know much about "The Green Knight", but after watching the film, the feeling it brings is extraordinary.

The film is adapted from the book "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight". The book describes four parts. For the sake of brevity, I went to Du Niang to read the materials.

① "Part 1" tells about the first appearance of the Green Knight at King Arthur's celebration on Christmas Eve and set a challenge. Knight Gawain stood in front of King Arthur and accepted the Green Knight's bet.

②"Part II" Knight Gawain should make a bet to go to the Green Church on Christmas Eve the following year, travel through mountains and rivers, and meet the castle on the way. In exchange for the item, Gawain agreed.

③ "Part Three" The castle owner was out hunting, and the castle lady took this opportunity to show her love to Gawain and kiss the knight Gawain. In this case, Gawain only returned a symbolic kiss.

④ "Part 4" Gawain still went to the appointment, saw the green knight and said to accept the appointment, Gawain shrank his head calmly, the green knight shouted that he was timid; the second axe, Gawain He didn't dodge and let him cut, but the Green Knight didn't directly hurt him; then the third axe only slashed Gawain's scalp a little, and only shed a little blood. When the green knight lifted the axe and slashed at him again, Gawain jumped up and demanded the green knight to stop attacking immediately. At this time, the Green Knight revealed his true colors, and it turned out that he was the owner of the castle. The reason is mainly to test whether Gawain follows the noble way of the knight. The first two axes did not hurt Gawain on behalf of Gawain for not breaking the agreement between them during the first two nights at the castle, and the third axe hurt him because he did not hand over the green belt given by his wife on the third night.

[At this point, the above four parts are the contents of the original work, and then let's compare the descriptions in the film]

(corresponding to the first part of the original book)

The kindness, an episode, and the outing in the above three pictures may not be reflected in the original book, but in the film, the three challenges of Knight Gawain are really messed up, followed by the second part of the castle

The above two pictures are the final fourth part of the male protagonist's final green church challenge.

This film describes chivalry: humility, honor, sacrifice, valor, mercy, spirit, honesty, justice! The plot throughout the entire story line, chivalry, and the generosity of Knight Gawain to the scavenger caused the loss of his mount and the green knight's axe in the agreement with the green knight, but it is enough to reflect Gawain's chivalry. "Spirit, Compassion"

In the next challenge, Knight Gawain helped the deceased lady go down the spring to retrieve the lost head, and returned the green knight's axe before parting. In exchange for what Gawain said before, what can you bring me? The "heroic and sacrifice spirit" that embodies the spirit of chivalry

But in the next contact with the Castle Lady, Knight Gawain did not do it in the spirit of chastity on the last morning before parting, as reflected in the book and the movie. Finally, the Green Knight's third axe slashed and scratched Gawain as punishment. echo

Too much without spoilers. If you want to know more, you can read the original book. The medieval aesthetics embodied in the movie are not like the feelings brought by war movies. After watching this movie, you will have a different feeling! worth watching

It's a beautiful movie to "watch" and "listen", but the plot is too pale. The few dodges when he was beheaded seemed real and lovely.

A particularly wacky movie. Lowery adapted Sir Gawain the virtuous's Journey of Chivalry into a coming of age story in order to make the characters understandable to contemporary audiences. The adaptation is hardly successful. While trying to get rid of the traditional saga and coming of age narratives and interspersed with absurd irony, on the other hand, they had to be loyal to the original plot and use a mystical style to confuse the saga plot. In the end, the coming of age turned into a steep curve that could not be completed until the final scene through intracranial simulation. The moral challenge on the road also lost the tension with the virtual knight in the original book. No matter how good a slow pan looks, it can't be saved.
