This movie is underrated! Keep watching and you will gradually be amazed.
Overall, the film's story creativity, character and scene scheduling, prop design, low-saturation color design, split composition, transition method, depth of field effect, and background music are really top-notch.
The first hour tells the story of the protagonist who has been looking for someone in Paris, and the second hour tells the story of a restaurant that has not been renovated and opened. During this period, middle-aged women's tour groups and furniture exhibitions have been used to connect. Those two main stories, until the end, the hero and heroine meet skillfully. Especially in the restaurant half an hour after the movie, I laughed softly, it was really humorous and not funny. And after reading it, I finally understand what the "chaotic order" of scene scheduling is.
At the same time, the satirical effect of this film is full: satirizing modern standardized production, very fancy but useless furniture; automatic but inhumane industrial design; and all-round privacy-free houses, which are prophesied like gods. The social phenomenon of "live everything live" today; and the purpose of people's travel is only for shopping, and when they are tired, they go back to the hotel to watch TV, and the right is opposite (the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are reflected by the glass door to indicate that they are close at hand, too Wonderful) the real scenic features, the local historical newspapers chose to ignore it.
The first half of the film has been satirizing the shortcomings of the era of industrial reproduction: identical skyscrapers, identical cars, identical drivers, identical briefcases... Fashionable outfits, identical entertainment: identical TV programs... ...resulting in every city in the world being exactly the same. But in the last five minutes of the film, the urban industrial landscape is analogized to an amusement park through whimsy, and the title "Play Time" is again called.
The whole film presents the status quo of modern industrialized cities with both advantages and disadvantages, and the themes are rich and distinct. And the composition and color are extremely comfortable, let me know that gray can be so beautiful. Various humorous jokes emerge in an endless stream, which is a very advanced joke design.
