The viewing experience is great. I gave it four stars because I was already a black-bellied uncle and couldn't be moved by such a beautiful fairy tale.
To add a little cultural details, mainly refer to imdb.
- The inspiration for this movie is Southeast Asian culture, so the heroine calls her father bà (Papa in Vietnamese). The female lead is voiced by Vietnamese-American Kelly Marie Tran.
- There are five countries in the Kumandra continent, inspired by Southeast Asia's Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos. The river shaped like a dragon corresponds to the Mekong River
- When the heroine first appeared, she fought her father with two sticks. The double stick is from Kaili, a traditional Filipino martial art.
- Raya's pet is called Tuk Tuk. Tourists who have been to Thailand or Cambodia should have taken a tuk-tuk. That's right, it's this Tuk Tuk.
- Raya does not use sticks to play swords in the later stage. The shape of the sword is inspired by the traditional Indonesian dagger keris
- Raya is a Malay fighting martial artist, and her sister Namaari, who loves and kills her, is a Muay Thai
- The cute dragon Sisu in the play is based on Naga... I didn't expect this when I watched the movie. The Naga statue I saw in Cambodia felt very fierce and powerful.
- Sisu's siblings' names should also have a source, such as an older brother named Pengu (Pangu?). But I didn't find instructions for that.
