Existence is happiness

4th time watching, love this movie. A lot of shots, lines, and actions can move me. Watching a movie at home, the sound of cicadas outside the window, the leaves turning white under the scorching sun, and the mother chopping vegetables in the kitchen, these sounds and images seem to come from this movie. External sounds are no longer noise, and such viewing is not just movie viewing. Experiencing setbacks, bereavements, failures. . . We are still walking on the streets of summer, smoking a cigarette, saying a few insignificant words, hungry to eat, thirsty to drink, and occasionally drunk.

"You're only twenty-five, anything is possible"

"No, my life is hopeless."

Even if life is hopeless, keep going. Because in addition to those seductive dreams, we have a lot of happiness. Bits and pieces, scattered in the square of time, waiting for us to pick up. The desire to live is stronger than we imagine.

Director Hirokazu Kore-eda especially likes to shoot stairs. In the film, there is a long stone stair under the shade of a beautiful tree that appears in the camera many times. It is a stair in a residential area in Yeshan County.
