But Jack's loneliness is from the inside out. If he fails, not only the physical body may be eliminated, but the black and white of the whole incident will be reversed, and he will be misunderstood forever. Before the truth came to light, the country, people, society, and countless police colleagues stood on the opposite side of Jack. He became a gangster. And he can choose to give up resistance at any time and return to them. Being able to resist this temptation is the real courage.
Having said that, we can understand that "Break into the 16th Block" is not a story of a good policeman and a group of bad policemen, but a story of a person looking for a way to self-salvation. Eddie, the witness Jack wants to protect, will send Jack and his colleagues to jail. Why would Jack do this? The question Eddie wants to ask is exactly what I want to ask: Why do you want to offend your 20-year partner for such an insignificant person and become an enemy of the entire New York police? In the movie Jack did not answer, but guessing from his tired face, he might just be too tired of being a bad person.
Excuse me for disrespect, none of the domestically produced movies I have ever watched has made me feel that being a good person can make me tremble with excitement like "Brave 16 Blocks". You can also see the confidence and pride that Americans have in their own system in "Bringing into the 16th Block". Strictly speaking, Jack is not fighting alone. If there is no legal justice represented by the judge, Jack will take more than just 16 blocks with witnesses. The movie might be renamed "Manman Tianya Road".
