Making fairy tales is the privilege of the screen

At the beginning of the film, the beginning of the alien invasion is explained. What was once a bustling town and intimate citizens is now a landscape of a distant past. More than 400 days after the invasion, the four surviving mother and daughter began to struggle to survive again. Abandoned towns, lonely buildings, railways overrun by weeds, and aliens lurking around make for the kind of apocalyptic vision that is the usual backdrop for horror films. A gun, a wooden box, an oxygen cylinder, an amplifier, some sundries, a bare-footed mother with a baby and a pair of children who are waiting to be fed, keep walking, not knowing that fate will take them to where.

Until I met an old neighbor, Emmett. He was alone in an abandoned factory. They all went through a painful and difficult time, and their relatives suffered. Whether in pain or joy, it is human instinct to make a cry, and the alien killer just suppresses this instinct. People had to live in fear and fear in silence, in order to survive, in order to reproduce, waiting and longing for the arrival of the day of freedom in the distant future.

The third paradox arises from this, the survivors can no longer trust each other. Even if Emmett saw the torch lit on the granary in the high ground by his old neighbor Lee (that is, the dead male protagonist in the previous episode), Emmett, who was not far away, kept his distance. In the last episode, when the Li family fought against the aliens, he also stayed on the sidelines and did not lend a helping hand. Perhaps it was the departure of his relatives that took away the hope and courage in Emmett's heart, making him no longer trust the mother and daughter who asked for his help. Compared with unity and cheer, this kind of fear and despair has penetrated deeply into the hearts of survivors. Driving them away means losing humanity, and being with them means you have to protect them. As a result, your precious life will be in crisis and danger. This is a difficult paradox for survivors: is it united to face death? Or live alone?

The plot continues, with the eldest daughter discovering evidence that someone is still alive through a song she stumbles across on the radio. She figured out the source of the radio transmission, and she wanted to find that source, send off the whistling sound from her hearing aids that immobilized the aliens, and help the survivors who had the radios fight the aliens. However, this somewhat whimsical idea was opposed by his younger brother. It is the shadow of the alien that imprisons the power of human thinking and action, and the courage to defeat the alien. So the eldest daughter looked for the launch tower alone with a gun. The transition from escaping aliens to taking the initiative shows great courage and remarkable intelligence. If father Li was still there, he would definitely try this actively. It was this idea that gave the eldest daughter the courage to set out and the belief in victory.

On the way, the gun is a double-edged sword, which can kill aliens and attract aliens. So it should only be used in the most urgent cases. In addition to fighting, the whole film constantly creates repressed suspense. This terrifying and quiet atmosphere fully expresses the barrenness and silence of the external world. And the ray of hope that existed in the hearts of the survivors was like a flickering warm candle in the thick darkness that covered the sky, and gradually the candle turned into an angry lightning.

Surrounded by aliens with extremely acute hearing, the journey of a girl who cannot hear is doomed to be miserable. Grab a hearing aid, a megaphone, and a gun, these proven weapons against aliens and never look back. The man Emmett, who was shocked by the girl's courage, joined the journey to find the launch tower. Only in this way, the whistling sound of the hearing aids from the launch tower, can many survivors get weapons to deal with aliens and fight their inner fears. with the power of despair. Men and girls, like evangelists. Push aside the thorns and march into the desert.

The image of the bridge in the film is quite interesting. The girl walks to the bridge that symbolizes the future and hope, while her mother walks to the bridge that symbolizes the past and death. In the spectrum of the soul, life and death, hope and despair, are like the two sides of a bridge are clearly separated. No matter what time, don't let sadness drown, keep your head high and keep moving forward, even if you are scarred and bloodstained, you must face the light and pursue hope. This is the mission of survivors and the meaning of life. The girl finally came to the beach and saw the glowing radio tower on the isolated island. And the mother had to go back to the village and town to find the medicine to heal her son's foot injury and the oxygen cylinder to keep the newborn alive. Despite the risks, actions increase the likelihood of wish-fulfillment and focus on the present, thereby forgetting those negative emotions.

The essence of action is discovery and encounter. This is another paradox. Discovery can certainly see hope, but encounters can also bring new surprises. On the shore going to the island, the man and the girl encounter human beings who have been alienated into beasts among the survivors, and are about to become their prey. After the mother found medicine and oxygen cylinders, she found that her home was invaded by aliens on the way back. In order to avoid the alien, the boy locked himself and his new-born brother in an airtight boiler, and was about to face the danger of suffocation. At this point, new crises and suspense gradually push the film to a climax. Extreme dilemmas test human nature's choices and trade-offs. The film doesn't disappoint, as the man and girl escape the clutches of the orcs after a suffocating fight. The orcs were slaughtered by the aliens who heard the sound. The mother, who is as wise and brave as a goddess, used fire and water to successfully avoid the aliens and save the children who were about to die of suffocation. The strength and wisdom of human beings once again overcome the crisis, demonstrating irrefutable courage and strength.

Survivors are throwing a bustling bonfire party on an isolated island, surprising a man and a girl who have just experienced the test of life and death. In the shadow of aliens, this fairy tale-like scene of leisure and happiness becomes more and more absurd. Men and girls who trespassed on the island were taken in and given food and warmth. This island where survivors live is a small paradise. Safe because the aliens can't swim. When we set out, humans were fighting for their lives, and only one in six people landed on this safe island. The man told the people on the island that they came not for their own safety, but to fight back against the aliens. He and the girl brought hope of victory, not just to survive in the presence of aliens.

In the final island battle and the secret room battle, both the man and the mother burst out with superhuman courage and courage. They fight to survive, they fight to win. Time advances one second at a time, and these resisters, right next to the aliens who are close at hand, move one by one in the quiet space. The difference between life and death is like a piece of paper. Horror and depressing atmosphere, creepy music, waiting for the rebels, is it death or victory? And the children finally took on the responsibilities of the adults. While the adults fell one after another, in the revengeful whistling of the hearing aids, the children succumbed to the aliens themselves. They have finally grown up and are no longer the protected ones, but become the main force of resistance, protecting the ones they love.

The ending is upbeat and warm. In the most glorious victory, without delay, come to an abrupt end. The weak became the strong, and even the strong, terrifying and cruel as aliens, would still be completely defeated in front of the weak who fought to the end.

Wisdom, strength, love and hope always overcome cowardice, sadness, numbness and despair. Such a story is a bit naive, but to be honest, commercial movies are actually repeating all kinds of naive fairy tales and providing people living in the present with all kinds of chicken soup to heal their souls. What's more, from the technical point of view of the same type of film, this is indeed a work that is mindful and laborious.

Today we believe in fairy tales because we no longer have fairy tales. Just as we believe in God's miracles and live in an atheistic world. Routine repetition drains our dreams and brainpower, leaving us as invisible as the Alien in the movie and as inaudible as the girl, mired in insensitivity and lifeless quagmire day after day.

And in our subconscious, we still yearn to become the hero in the old fairy tale who finally defeated the demon and saved the world after untold hardships. It's a mortal's daydream, and it's what made the film so successful. We consume the story and are satisfied. Because in this movie, even more unreal than the fictional aliens, it is the kind of wisdom, power and hope that is scarce today, to overcome the aliens, these idealized human natures are warm and fragrant, dazzling, almost Become divinity, heal and sublime countless souls.

These fairy tales are so scarce and empty, but they have not disappeared in our world, because in the little corners of the world, the victory of the mortals in these fairy tales still exists in our dreams, children. In our games, there is another dimension that glitters in the dark, that is, on the movie screen that fascinates us!
