In-depth analysis, I don’t know the history of Romania and the spiritual universe.

After looking forward to the two-year prequel from "Call of Souls 2", it was finally released in the golden September. However, the response of this horror film on all major platforms has not reached the audience's ideal height.

After watching this "Nun" twice, I feel that this movie is still remarkable, and there are many in-depth things that are worth two strokes.

"The Nun" premiered in North America in September. Although Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB gave unsatisfactory reviews, it did not affect its influence as a member of the soul-conspiring universe. With a box office of more than 50 million (equivalent to RMB 300 million +) in three days, it won the North American box office weekend championship.

Seeing many film critics who said that "The Nun" was guided by Wen Ziren, everyone's impression of Great God Wen began to decline. In fact, this is not what you see.

Based on the posture of the last horror series "Chain Saw", Wen Ziren's "Call of Souls" series is definitely considered a classic, at least it can blow you up in the theater.

Here, I want to make a statement from an objective perspective. "The Nun" is directed by Colin Hardy, and the screenwriters are Gary Doberman and Wen Ziren. Therefore, as long as you have a little understanding of the filming process, you will know that the screenwriter only determines the direction of the story, and the director is the one who ultimately determines the presentation of the story. This includes all kinds of lights, backgrounds, music, and character psychology.

Therefore, the horror that "Nun" did not reach the height of "Calling the Soul" is excusable. If we look at the script alone, we can still be impressed by its gloomy story. Many people saw the premiere in the United States and screamed in theaters.

So based on this dark exorcism horror film, it is not as straightforward as we imagined Eastern horror. It is a process of horror. There is a process of possessing demon, and there is also a process of exorcism.

The new female protagonist of "Nun", Famiga, participated in the film's starring role. In the "American Horror Story", this little girl smiled like sunshine and cheese, I wonder how many boys fascinated.

The beginning of the story tells that two nuns opened the sacred forbidden area in the church. The old nun was dragged by the devil into a dark secret room, and the other nun hung up in the air with a key. This opened the horror of the film, and after sending the vegetable man to the church, he found the shadow of the ghost nun.

A very classic shot appeared here, that is, the cross is upside down. In Jesus, the cross represents justice, then the upside down cross represents Satan’s wrath. It is a way for the devil to provoke Jesus. This picture often appears in exorcism and religious horror movies.

The news spread that the church nun hanged herself, and the Vatican Headquarters learned of it and sent two protagonists to investigate the nun's suicide. One is the godfather, and the other is the nun played by Famiga.

In Romania, the two protagonists met the food delivery man, and they asked the man to send them into the church. After that, the game between the godfather and the ghost nun began.

Well, the plot will not be revealed much. Generally speaking, this horror film is quite satisfactory and there is not much fluctuation. But there is a huge amount of information hidden in the film.

First of all, for people who do not understand the story of the soul-calling universe. Let's briefly talk about the background of the abnormal event. In "Annabel", the story about the doll of possessing evil spirits happened in 1943. The Mullins couple in a small town in the western United States lost their daughter, so Father Mullins made this doll and was killed by the evil spirit Anna. Bell was possessed and was later sealed.

Later in 1952, two nuns died in Romania and one was hung on the wall outside the church window. The Vatican headquarters sent a priest and a nun to investigate the incident. Today's "Nun" is exactly the story that happened on the timeline in 1952.

Of course, these stories about the possession of evil spirits are adapted based on some realistic foundations, and some real spiritual phenomena will be inserted in the later timelines (such as "Calling the Soul" and "Annabel"). The Warrens exorcism, the Amitville House in New York in 1975, Ronnie Defoe's killing of all his family, etc. are all real materials.

Well, continue to break the topic "Nun". Romania, where priests and nuns went to have a deep history. The food delivery man used a carriage to transport them to the church, while a standard cargo truck from the 60s driving in the opposite direction formed a sharp contrast.

Why is the history of Romania? We need to correct the timing of the story. The story takes place in 1952, which is the 7th year after the end of World War II.

In World War II, Romania was a tycoon in control of oil. Therefore, Germany, the exporter of high-tech machinery and equipment, is eager to pull Romania to the side of the Axis powers. After that, Romania began a frantic attack on the Soviet Union with the Axis powers. Although Stalingrad was defeated badly, it also caused the Romanian army to lose more than 150,000 troops. The Romanian army's heavy losses in the war caused complaints among the people in the country.

The evil spirit Valak in "The Nun" was originally buried deep in the seal, but the evil spirit was released because the shells from the air raid hit the seal in World War II. So there are the following series of dark stories.

The story here uses a short picture to metaphorically once again the occurrence of World War II is the fuse that released Pandora's Box, and tens of millions of lives in the world have become the consequences of war. It also ravaged the church like the unleashed evil spirits of Valak.

So, is the carriage scene in the movie a satire of Luo Su vs. post-war? (The carriage was a means of transportation in the Middle Ages, indicating that the impact of war was extremely painful)

The evil spirit Valak was originally the 62nd demon god among the 72-pillar demon gods of King Solomon, commanding 38 legions. The image is a child riding on a two-headed dragon with angel wings on his body. This image has also appeared in the movie, it is the book that the godfather fell into the coffin and pressed under his body.

In real life, the image of Valaka appeared in a 1915 art work, depicting a godfather who was expelling evil spirits. Countless Varaka spewed from the woman's mouth, and I suddenly got goose bumps. However, this painting also foreshadows how the godfather will exorcise demons.

The Roman Catholic Book of Rites divides the prayer of exorcism into two parts, "plea" and "command", just like when the godfather chanted a mantra with an expression to disperse Varak.

Many classic horror shots are also used in the story, such as the automatic playing of music on the radio. There is this scene in "Phantom Fero 1408"; of course, there are many jump scares appearing. What impressed me the most is that the nun on the tree fell on the body of the boy, half of his face opened with a big mouth. .....

So, what is the blood of Christ that locks the seal? It is mentioned in the "Bible" that "I am the bread of life that came down from heaven. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life. At the last day I will raise him. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood will always In me, I am always in him."

From primitive witchcraft to sacred religions, there is a spread of "eating gods", and this means that the "blood of Christ" mentioned in the film is blood with sacred power, a collection of justice and light. So in the end of the film, Famija spurted the holy blood on Varak's face, and then it entered the seal again.

Is the story over here? not at all.

You know, this movie is closely related to "Call of Souls". The true identity of Sendai Nan is actually Morris in "The Call of the Soul". After Varak was resurrected, he was invaded by the vomited black snake. So at the end, although Varak was surrendered, the evil spirit still adhered to Morris.

A mark of an inverted cross appeared on his left neck, which also echoes his exorcism as a subject in "The Call of Souls". In fact, as early as "Annabel", I made Easter eggs for "Nuns", this is this photo of five nuns, it is five!

The image of Varak was not taken from Solomon intact, but was created by Wen Ziren and makeup artist Eleanor Sabaduka. And this building is very similar to the church building of Hogwarts College in Harry Potter. It is not a Romanian cathedral. The camera is not allowed to shoot, so this lecture hall is a temporary building built by the crew in a film studio.

"Nuns" also happened during the shooting of this pseudo-church, which sounds really creepy.

Director Hardy found a mysterious "handprint" in the dust of Corvin Castle. Later, when filming a scene in the Roman castle in Mogooa, Hardy saw the ghosts of a pair of Romanian soldiers.

Although the degree of shock in this film did not meet expectations, it was Wen Ziren who took free time to assist director Colin Hardy in filming when he directed "Aquaman" and took some shots himself. Therefore, in the film, you can also savor some of Wenziren's taste.

The soul-calling universe is as huge as the Marvel and DC universes. "Nun" can be regarded as an indispensable member of the soul-calling universe. It completes the process of soul-calling, and there will be countless godfathers and nuns on this road.

As for the Wen Ziren movie we are looking forward to, he has already made us eager to move in December. (This time I really buried an egg for everyone, a DC hero directed by Wen Ziren himself)
