Relive some of the feelings of detachment last night
At the beginning of the film, the male protagonist is being interviewed. This investigation inquiry was only when I watched the film for the second time, I realized that it might be an investigation into the suicide of the female student behind.
Henry was obviously uneasy at the beginning, he asked to close the door and all unrelated people left the field, and then Henry's expression looked sad but more calm. The move to close is hard to ignore, as such a more enclosed space may be safer for Henry. In a safe space, even sadness is so calm.
Erica's intrusion seems to open the door that Henry has always wanted to close. The warmest part of the whole film is the clip of Erica and Henry living together, which is intertwined with the good memories of Henry's childhood. The tragic experience of his mother in childhood made him more afraid of this peaceful warmth, so he insisted on driving E away.
At the end of the film, Henry is reading "The Fall of Usher" in the messy classroom. I don't know why I think this scene is more peaceful. Just like everyone is an island, sometimes it's not that others can't get in, but that others don't want to break in, because acceptance means accepting the possibility of loss.
Sometimes the two are extremely ambiguous, just like the teacher who stands on the playground every day, only the same dull person can feel the flowing breath, so when the female classmate greets the teacher, he will say "you Can see me." He was just used to the emotional outpouring of that enclosed space. The teacher's surprise comes from someone who sees the sadness of others.
