Easy Rider, Hard Life

The greatest road movie of all time, no exaggeration. The film accurately and beautifully depicts the living conditions of a generation who have lost their faith. A landscape blockbuster that travels through the United States, a record of the era entering the American race and humanity. Beautiful scenery, great music, but unnerving from start to finish.

The drug trade, the white and Indian farm, the hippies you meet on the road, everything is novel and tense. The mixed life of communist idealists, hippies, does not seem to be an ideal place. People sow seeds, worship nature, and try to be self-sufficient, but they are a group of poor city people who can grow food without even planting seeds. Knowing nothing, they are doomed to fail and to be abandoned by the mainstream. Watt, who seems to be distracted, may clearly understand this truth, so he said "I well control my time, but I should go". (Not necessarily the same sentence, but similar).

Watt, Billy and George met like a match made in heaven. George was so sober that he couldn't live without alcohol. As soon as the shot of the three of them on the road came out, I instantly felt relaxed. Nicholson was amazing. As long as he was there, everyone would be reduced to supporting roles without character. He was really good. The sentence "I get a very pretty one" made me laugh for a full minute.

But just when you think the movie might be heading for a comedy, the conservatives' violent sparring of three people in a tavern shatters your imagination. George's phrase "America was good before" expresses the unbearable status quo. So they fled and had to settle in suburban life. It was also here that they suddenly realized that although they had a lot of money, they never slept well in a warm room along the way. It is better to answer the sentence that there is no end to the egg under the nest, the broken spiritual world, let the free soul have no place to rest. And George, after accusing the conservatives of not allowing freedom, was mercilessly murdered as if he had completed his mission to the world. George is happy, at least he died on the way to freedom, and he no longer has to face this unbearable world, but he is also tragic, and he still failed to reach the carnival of his dreams.

Watt and Billy at the carnival, embracing two prostitutes, achieved a spiritual carnival in the cemetery. They cry, they pray, they curse, they doubt... This clip of God perfectly presents their emptiness, loneliness, panic, helplessness, and division. The existence of God is questioned throughout, and there is nothing but emptiness and deceit, violence and repression in life. At last they hit the road, were shot by savages in the wilderness, and never came back.

I thought Watt and Billy, who looked a little silly and simple-minded, would not bring much, but in the end I found that I was completely wrong, this is not just a simple scenery road film, it is a profound The critical film, thinking about human nature and criticizing society is everywhere.

Now, it's a minority. The film itself is lackluster, but epoch-making. It is a feeling of confusion among some contemporary people.

It is said to be the originator of road movies... The drugs, rock, group sex, hippies, Catholics, parades, shootings and Harleys are all real in the life of American imperialists... The music is quite good, such as "Born To Be Wild" which started soon and "The Weight" or "Wasn't Born To Follow".
