The poetry of simple story photography. It's a textbook case of "how to express the emotions of characters through the lens". The light and urgent stair revolving shot is the depth of love when we are in love; the layered division of the shadow of the running fence is the hatred of war separation; at the end, the wild geese flying south is the sublimation of the self to the big self. The relationships and positions of the characters are expressed through clever composition and depth of field. The language of the 1957 film is truly breathtaking!

[CGV Studios Beijing INDIGO Store - 2021 Russian Treasures Film Festival] Produced by Moscow Film Studio in 1957, Cannes Palme d'Or, experienced "emotional photography" on the big screen. The birch trees overlap Veronica's image, and the tone of the lyrical/poetic montage is evocative. The superimposed presentation of the screen can not help but think of another Soviet movie "War and Peace" that I watched last year. The "revolving camera movement" when the protagonist Boris, who was talked about with great interest, was truly amazing, a historical tragedy in the rotation of remote shooting, the flow of light and shadow.

The Cranes Are Flying quotes

  • Stepan: Dear mother, father, sisters and brothers! The happiness of our reunion is immeasurable. The heart of every Soviet citizen is filled with joy. Joy sings in our hearts. It is victory that has brought us this joy. We have all waited for this moment. But we shall not forget those left behind on the battlefield. Time will pass. Towns and villages will be rebuilt. Our wounds will heal. But our fierce hatred of war will never diminish. We share the grief of those who cannot meet their loved ones today, and we will do everything to insure that sweethearts are never again parted by war, that mothers need never again fear for their children's lives, that fathers need never again choke back hidden tears. We have won, and we shall live not to destroy, but to build a new life!
