Today I want to talk to you about the recently released movie that I watched recently, and share a little bit of my feelings. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can watch this movie and read this article again to avoid spoilers.

Although the old father in the movie is British, in my opinion, the emotions in the world, those about life and death, and about human nature are the same. American, British, Chinese... it doesn't make any difference.

So this is not a movie review, just because I can't calm down for a long time after watching it, I think of my parents - before I left my hometown and went to another city, although they were reluctant to part with me, they chose to support me, never Blame and blame me for the fact that I choose to pursue my ideals and career.

What does affection mean? What does aging mean? That's why I had to write something down, and why I have to recommend this movie to everyone.

I also want to talk about 6 things this movie taught us.

1. When we lose our memories, we lose our lives

In an almost thriller format, the film takes us into Anthony's "misplaced" memory. Daughter, son-in-law, nurse, doctor, daughter's boyfriend... When you can't control your memory, and you can't even recognize your close relatives, the gap formed in your brain is like falling into hell.

It is this little bit of love, the people and memories in our life that we can remember and want to remember that make up our lives and meaning.

In my opinion, the real horror of Alzheimer's disease is not that life gradually fades away, but that when memory becomes blurred, those old people start to fail to grasp and remember everything they were proud of. Whether it's an apartment, family, or time.

2. When we are born, we as babies clasp our hands and want to grasp everything. But life is just a journey that teaches us to let go gradually.

Just like the father in the movie. Even in old age, memories begin to blur. But he still remembered what he was trying to catch:

I want to seize the house I have struggled for my whole life; I want to keep my little daughter who has passed away; I want to keep his watch;

I want to keep those beautiful memories about my loved ones...

In the end, it turned out that nothing was left. He even forgot his own name. My preference is coffee or tea.

3. If you blindly miss those things that have been lost, ignore what you have in front of you. In the end, you will find that even what you have will be far away from you.

The father in the movie always talks about his little daughter, misses her as an excellent painter, and misses her always acting like a spoiled child. I don't like the eldest daughter who has been silently taking care of her all the time...

He even maliciously speculated that his daughter took care of him just because she wanted to plot his property.

Favoring one over the other, not really caring about the person in front of you, will only sting those who truly love you.

4. Busy because of life, pain because of pressure... And the so-called hard work, in turn, is also a kind of happiness, because it means that we are still young and strong, and we are still young.

One of the most heart-wrenching scenes in the movie is when the old father, who is over eighty years old, learned that his only relative, the eldest daughter, was about to leave the city. He stubbornly said that he didn't need anyone's company or comfort.

After his daughter left, he went to the supermarket to buy something, stood alone in the kitchen humming a song, stuffed the plastic bag into his pocket, but didn't know what to do next. He stood there dumbfounded, at a loss.

Compared to being busy with life, what is really sad is having nothing to do, no direction and purpose in life, and a dazed sense of not being needed by society.

5. Don't forget to say thank you to those around you who love you.

Sometimes we are always stingy and thankful for the people who are closest and dearest.

In fact, the eldest daughter in the movie has been doing her best to love her father all the time. Under the doctor's advice and her husband's complaints, she still couldn't bear to send her sick father to a nursing home... The impatient husband called her and told her to rush home. After she put on a sweater for her father, her father inadvertently Say to your eldest daughter, "Thank you Annie for everything you do."

Although it was only a few words, the daughter also burst into tears instantly.

In fact, those meticulous giving and unrequited love are the most precious things we have in this world.

6. Now is the best time to love them. The most touching scene of the movie happened at the end, when Anthony finally realized that he was in a nursing home, the old man over 80 cried out tremblingly, like a child, he was insecure. Not only because he lost everything he had in the past, but also because of being abandoned by his relatives and helpless to reality... In the end he said, "I miss my mother..."

I suddenly remembered a quote from a book I read recently: "Emotional experiences are fundamental factors that shape our personality...Babies depend on their mothers not because their mothers feed them, but because their mothers hold them and sing to them. , stare into their eyes."

When we can still love our father and mother, when we can still hug them, chat with them, stare at them and accompany them, please don't be stingy anymore... Because the fate we have is only in this life meet.

I would like to send this article to all parents and relatives. I hope that time will go slower, and the time with you can be longer and longer.

The Father quotes

  • Anthony: Can I ask you a question?

    Laura: Yes.

    Anthony: Are you a nun?

    Laura: No.

Anthony: Then why are you speaking to me as if I'm retarded?

  • Anthony: I am worried. It's very worrying. I mean... Losing all my things, everyone's just helping themselves, and... If this goes on much longer, um, I'll be stark naked. And, um, I... I won't be able to tell what time it is.
