Just childishly write what you think. It is only written for myself.
At the time of Japan's financial crisis, there is no need to talk about the background introduction. I want to talk about the characters, come on one by one.
Father, Sasaki, former head of the General Affairs Division. Like most Japanese office workers, family pressure was on his shoulders, but unfortunately, in that era, he was unemployed. But more unfortunately, Japanese men need dignity, authority and face. Instead of being honest with his family, he went to work every day. Face is his hindrance, but he can accept food relief in the park. He did not want his eldest son to join the army because of his inner fear and his dignity as a father. He doesn't want his younger son to play the piano, maybe it's the helplessness of life that can't be achieved. The turning point lies in the suicide of the former friend and the daughter who was abandoned by them. He felt the oppression and fear from the future and death. He tried to let go. He was careful as a cleaner. But he still ignored his wife.
Wife, Megumi, a typical Japanese housewife. My favorite character in the whole movie. She works hard for everything, it is a simple daily life, and it is also a daily life. She can't taste the continuation of love, she can't taste the care of friendship. Just like the sentence she said on the sofa: Who will give me a hand. She was disappointed at that moment. It was rare for her to think about herself, to see how much she expected about the car. She witnessed her husband receiving relief food, but because of his husband's dignity and face, it was still kept as a secret in her mind. She is still helpless.
The eldest son, Agui, is a rebellious young man. Less space appears, but his decision also led to his father's attitude towards his younger son. His decision was also made from a good starting point.
The youngest son, Kenji, is a primary school student who can't get it. A child who was misunderstood by the teacher and felt regretful and helpless by his parents. His helplessness lies in the fact that his likes and talents are squeezed out by the pressure of the times or life. That sentence from the father: How could our two children be geniuses? That sentence was the moment that really killed Kenji at that time.
Thus, the family is not torn apart, but they begin an absurd escape. or escape.
The husband was caught by his wife and saw his embarrassed appearance of a cleaner. After a short look at each other, the dignity of the suit and leather shoes disappeared. He was horrified, ashamed, frightened, and ashamed. He escaped without even a word of greeting, and his wife at the moment was with the robber. The wife's escape is more like searching for the meaning of life, because she has not realized it for too long. She and an uncle, a thief who she never met, fled by car to the beach. She was indulged for a while and was cared for by others for a while, but she still only saw a short, momentary hope (the light on the sea is what I care about a lot). The escape of the youngest son is even more illogical, more like unwillingness. Is it despair, not saying a word until he is locked in a small dark room. More like unwilling.
The meeting after escaping, in my opinion, is still a meeting with secrets, but a meal the three of them eat together is more like a compromise, a compromise for everything.
What I understand is that the husband and wife also realized at that moment that the gift of their youngest son was their hope and light. A song made it clear that it was not Tokyo that resounded, but the families under the pressure of Tokyo. The pride of my father's last swagger, the ease of pacing with his wife, and the confidence of Kenji. They did not try to dispel the secrets and misunderstandings of the past. They kept their secrets on the asphalt road covered with withered leaves after the car accident, in the cold seaside where no hope and warmth could be seen, and in the dark room with the losers. They may live on with new secrets, but at least there is hope for the music.
The important thing in this film should not be the era or the story, but the conflict and resolution between the characters and themselves.
Very happy, very happy after watching it, it is rare to see a good movie.
