"Indian version of 911"

"Mumbai Hotel" is a movie based on a true event. This event can be said to be the "Indian version of 911". It happened in Mumbai, India in 2008. At the Taj Mahal Hotel, the top hotel at the time, a group of terrorists A brutal massacre is being carried out here.

The story begins with a group of young Muslim guys who come to Mumbai by boat, they don't look very old, they don't seem to be different from the crowd on the street. However, what is different from others is their serious eyes and the big and long black package on their backs. At this time, the lively Mumbai did not know that it was this group of young people they called "children" who brought four disastrous days to the city.

As night fell, they got into action too, and everything went exactly as planned, from the train station to the street café to the top-notch hotel, the Taj Mahal. Finally, in the hotel, the surviving people wage a life-and-death struggle with the terrorists.

There are two stark contrasts in this film:

1. The contrast between the luxury of the Taj Mahal Hotel and the slums of Mumbai is simply a realistic portrayal of heaven and hell. At the Taj Mahal Hotel, the richest and most powerful people in the world are hosted here. They can enjoy various high-level treatments here. Even the temperature of the bath water will be set well, and there will be no error. Here, they enjoy Enjoy life as in paradise on earth.

But, also on the other side of Mumbai, is a dilapidated slum, dark and dilapidated, like hell. The male protagonist lives in this "slum". He works in the Taj Mahal Hotel, but the disparity in this environment and identity does not make him feel bad. On the contrary, he works more attentively and strives to put his own Do your best work so you can give your family a better life. This is also in stark contrast to the group of terrorists who are still "children".

2. The contrast between the hotel staff and the local police force. After the guests were trapped in the hotel, the hotel staff had the opportunity to escape, but most of them chose to stay and rescue the trapped guests, because they thought that since the guests stayed in our hotel, then Keeping them safe seems like an instinct. There are several scenes in the movie where hotel employees sacrifice themselves to protect the lives of guests, and these are factually based. It can be seen that in this terrorist attack, the employees of the Taj Mahal Hotel protected the lives of many guests.

However, the opposite is the local police force. The terrorist activities continued from night to early morning, and no one came to rescue. The only one who came was a small team of four police officers, who volunteered. However, these few people are really small soldiers for terrorists with heavy weapons. This is also one of the important reasons for the heavy casualties in this terrorist attack.

The entire film is nearly two hours long, and the links in it are closely intertwined. Even I, who usually like to fast forward, are not willing to go faster this time. This is a movie from 2019, and I have only seen it until now. It's too late to meet you. I like the ending part the most, the male protagonist is finally rescued from the hotel, and then rides home, the sun shines on his body, the kind of transparency that has experienced life and death, just like living again.

Five stars!
