"You are both visible and invisible, I only need you, I only call your name." This is the beginning of the movie "Colors of Heaven". The film begins with a dark picture, only the sound of music and dialogue from the tape, just like the world of the blind eight-year-old Muhammad. There is no color in his world, he can only feel the world with his voice and his fingertips.
In the film, when Muhammad was sitting on a bench alone and waiting for his father to pick him up, he heard a young bird that unfortunately fell from a tree. He followed the sound and picked up a wild cat with a pine tower facing the side. Throw it over to drive it away, then fumble among the dead leaves on the ground to find the unfortunate bird that fell, put it in his shirt pocket, climb the tree with difficulty, and return the bird to his nest. This stray bird seems to be the same as Muhammad who can't see the world. For it, Muhammad's warm palm is its God, but Muhammad is not redeemed by his own God. There are two similar episodes in the later narrative. Once when the grandmother set out to find Muhammad, she saw a small fish struggling in the shoal, and the grandmother fished it out and threw it into the pond. Another time, when my father took Muhammad home, the forest was filled with thick fog, and the tortoise was stuck in the cracks of the roadside stones, struggling to turn over, but it was not helped. The baby bird, the fish and the tortoise may all be metaphors for the weak like Muhammad, the baby bird was rescued by the kind Muhammad, the little fish was freed by the help of the loving grandmother, but in that forest, thick fog was everywhere Permeating everything, the goodness and love of the father are also covered by the evil of desire, the unsaved tortoise seems to be a metaphor for Muhammad's ending.
As Huang Canran wrote in his poem, "My eyes have seen for a long time before I see", not everyone with normal vision can see the world we are in. Although Muhammad can't see color, there is a lively and colorful world in his heart. What he saw with his heart was even more beautiful than what those indifferent eyes saw. The trash in the eyes of teacher Ramani is a very meaningful souvenir in his eyes, a delicate brooch, a necklace strung with beer caps, a comb, and cards printed with snow-capped mountains, lakes and bright flowers. A surprise for the dear family.
On the way back to my grandmother's house, there are many sounds in the film, the sound of cars on the street, the sound of crowds, the music from the tapes in the store, the sound of woodpeckers hitting trees, these sounds that go unnoticed by others, All fell into Muhammad's ears. In the car back, the rest of the people were drowsy, only he stretched his hand out of the car window, trying to catch the flowing wind. The scenery here is very poetic and beautiful, with large green fields, clear sky, beautiful flowers, gurgling rivers, crisp birdsong, and soothing and pleasant music, which is also a reflection of Muhammad's pure soul. The atmosphere of the scene will also change with the mood of the characters. When father was shaving by the pond, the tones darkened, everything around the pond had a very gloomy feeling, and the sounds of strange beasts came from a distance. Similar scenes have appeared many times, such as when the father took Muhammad to the seaside, the raging tides rushed to the land again and again, the shrill sounds of birds chirping in the air, and the fact that they were later on the edge of the woods When they were resting, there was also the cry of wild beasts in the deep forest, but the father watched his child go to the depths of the dense forest but did not stop him. Finally, on the wooden bridge, Muhammad fell into the river, and when his father was hesitating whether to rescue him, the sound appeared again. This kind of voice actually came from his father's heart. He is not a bad person, but he has become indifferent and even a little dark in the suffering of life. He is afraid that this son will affect his continuation, and deep down he wants to get rid of this burden. But the good part of human nature does not allow him to do this, so he has been struggling with contradictions, and the sounds of beasts and birds of prey come from the evil desires in his heart.
There is also a scene in the film where Muhammad blows a white feather like the sky, the feather floats up for a while, and then staggers down. Feather, like his fate, could only fall to the ground feebly in the end.
When he was sent by his father to the blind carpenter, he said to the carpenter, "You know no one loves me, not even my grandma, they all left me because I was blind, I could go to school like everyone else, but I am now Must go to school for the blind, just like on the other side of the world, the teacher said that God loves blind people more because they can't see, but I said if that's the case, God won't make us blind, so we can't see God, the teacher replied Say, God is invisible, He is everywhere, you can feel Him, you know Him with your fingertips, and now I keep reaching out until one day I feel God's presence and tell Him everything, even The secret of my heart." He had been feeling God in his heart, even reaching out his hand at the end of his life. In the final scene, the dark forest in the father's heart seems to no longer exist, the black birds circled over their heads for a while and then dispersed, the father held him in his arms, and his tears seemed to bring him redemption. Muhammad's hands became bright, golden light covering the backs of his hands, like the bright smiling face of his grandmother as he left, perhaps finally feeling the presence of God at the last moment.
Colors not seen on earth, he will see in heaven. There are large green pastures and wheat in paradise, with gentle and clear water waves, birds with bright yellow soft fluff, brightly colored flowers boiling into thick colors in the water, grandmother wearing a white turban, standing in a Beneath the luxuriant tree, he looked at him with a smile. In heaven, everyone in existential and moral dilemmas will be redeemed. "You are both visible and invisible", as the teacher told Mohammed at the beginning, God is invisible, has no color and cannot be touched, but when the love in the heart is reawakened, you can perceive his presence.
