"Ring Story" is a Nordic-style sci-fi drama with only eight short episodes.
The Ring Research Institute is the core of everything. The three towers side by side are the most special existence in the town. Those research results are mysterious and full of uncertainty, and everyone is more or less affected by it.
The series begins with the little boy Cole and ends with the adult Cole. However, Cole is not the male lead. This is a group play, and everyone is the protagonist of their own story and a supporting role in the stories of others.
The eight stories are relatively independent and intertwined, and the beginning and the end are connected and cause and effect each other. In the end, a wonderful circle is formed.
The protagonist of the second story is Cole's brother Jacob, and Jacob's best friend Danny.
Two boys found a ball in the wilderness and accidentally switched bodies. After a brief panic, they decided to make a mistake and enjoy someone else's life.
Jacob is a bright boy, good grades, obedient, and his hobby is painting. The shy and shy baby is not popular at school. After changing into Danny's skin, the situation has changed a lot: he doesn't need to flirt with the girl, the girl will come to the door.
Jacob enjoys his new identity, and soon tires of it. Because Danny is too poor and has not graduated yet, and his parents have planned to let him work part-time to support his family. These are all unacceptable to the pampered Jacob.
Then, he encountered a new problem: the poor boy lived the life of the rich, and he would never change it back.
Never try human nature, because human nature cannot stand the test. Jacob lost his warm home and his best friend at the same time.
Character determines fate. Jacob is a cowardly boy. He is fine when things are going well, but once he is setback, he will be helpless. If he is strong enough, things may not turn around:
For example, he can make a lot of noise, roll around, and everyone knows what he does. Counterfeit goods are counterfeit goods. The details are full of flaws, and they may be exposed in a panic. Even if you don't succeed, you can at least disgust your opponent.
Or, try to tell the truth to your family, the Ring Research Institute is a mysterious place, and body swapping is not an unacceptable concept for staff. Even if you don't succeed, what can you lose?
He didn't even think about living a strong life with his new identity. Danny's shell, Jacob's core, isn't this configuration bad?
Although you lose at the starting line, knowledge can change your destiny. At his level, he should be able to get a scholarship from a prestigious school. The big deal is to leave the town and start anew. From then on, it will be another world.
There were so many paths, but he chose the worst one: after being disappointed with human nature, Jacob gave up his new body, lost the empty shell of his soul, and became a vegetable in everyone's eyes.
He cut off his own way, and also cut off Danny's way. If he persisted, after three months, maybe half a year, Danny might beg him to change it back.
Yes, Danny regretted it later. He lost his warm home and his best friend at the same time.
In order to treat his vegetative son, his parents almost went bankrupt, and the already poor family was worse off. They couldn't even pay the electricity bills. The family lived by lighting candles - and he could only watch helplessly.
Plus, life in the middle class isn't all that good. Jacob's relatives are all high-level intellectuals, and the scumbags have mixed into the academic bully group, and the pressure can be imagined. Afraid of running into gangs, Danny moved out of the house as an adult and never went back.
Danny later became a maintenance worker, and after going around in circles, he still lived like his own father, living the life he desperately escaped from - in this case, he occupies Jacob's body and has another life. What's the point?
There is no winner in this game of body swapping, but the biggest loser must be the little boy Cole.
Unable to stand the rebuke of his conscience, Danny later told Cole the truth. Cole ran into the depths of the forest and found Jacob who became a robot, the two brothers who had reunited after a long absence, and spent a short happy time.
On the way back, Cole inadvertently crossed the river of time, as if pressing the fast-forward button, time jumped back decades at once:
Grandmother and father passed away one after another, and the old mother, who was faltering, guarded the big empty house, waiting lonely and desperate for her son's return. The fake brother has also married and had children, and his children have become Cole's new playmates.
He is still the same boy from the beginning, and he has not changed in the slightest, but the outside world has already changed the world.
Things are right and wrong, time will never return, he has lost too much and missed too much, all of this is all because his brother discovered that ball in the wilderness.
Everyone is the protagonist of his own story and a supporting role in the stories of others.
The eight stories are relatively independent and intertwined, and the beginning and the end are connected and cause and effect each other. In the end, a wonderful circle is formed.
