Bosnia and Herzegovina movie "Ada, what happened? ” tells the story of the family of Ada, the queen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, dubbed the “Powder Keg of Europe”, and thousands of others in Srebrenica who sought protection in a UN camp but were ultimately slaughtered. It was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 93rd Academy Golden Bear and nominated for the Golden Lion at the 77th Venice Film Festival. The biggest feeling of watching the movie is heavy, a kind of lingering nightmare pressure. Due to the multi-ethnic and multi-religious beliefs, as well as the complex historical problems and geographical features of the Balkan Peninsula, up to now, ethnic disputes in the region are still ongoing. Srebrenica, a small town in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, suffered the worst genocide in Europe after World War II 25 years ago. 8,372 Muslim men were brutally killed. It is shocking that the massacre was carried out under the eyes of the UN peacekeeping force. Nearly a hundred years after the tragedy of Swithin, the inhuman Srebrenica massacre is still being staged in contemporary Western history, which can not help but make people sad and thought-provoking: First, don’t forget the lessons of history, how can we stop the cruelty of human beings and prevent this from happening. The constant repetition of this heinous crime? Second, how can the United Nations and its peacekeeping forces play their due role, instead of watching innocent people die? Seven years ago, I stayed in the Balkans and passed through Bosnia and Herzegovina. Along the way, I could see old tanks, cannons and other weapons, as well as the ruins of the war. Unfortunately, I couldn't go to Srebrenica.
This genocide made the two ethnic groups incompatible, but the director expressed his grief and anger in a more restrained manner, neither inciting the emotions of the audience nor the national emotions, but reflecting the suffering of the people, exposing the horror of crimes, exposing the ruthlessness of the war, and letting the audience Reflect for yourself.
There have been several tragedies in Indonesia that have persecuted and killed a large number of overseas Chinese, but unfortunately our films did not or could not touch this theme.
