I watched this movie for the first time on and off. To be honest, I didn’t understand it. It is estimated that the cultural background is not enough to understand the content satirized in it, or the ideas that the film wants to express. It is estimated that I will revisit it a second time in the future.
Who is the good guy and who is the bad guy in the film, I don't think anyone can be considered a real bad guy except Bill. Phil is selfish and everything is for himself. On the surface, he feeds the orphans, but in fact, it is the orphans who feed him. But if he didn't bring them together, let alone being a good person, whether these children can survive or not is one thing. problem, he shows the laziness beneath the real tangle and comfort. Oliver and Nancy should be considered good people. At least I didn't see Nancy doing anything bad from the beginning to the end, but the ending was so bad. She should be more able to reflect the confusion and helplessness of women at the bottom of that era. What is the meaning of Oliver, I don't particularly understand it, is it to say that she should always be kind, and no; is it to say that her mother had to run away from home because she was pregnant out of wedlock, and indirectly satirizes the feudal ideology at that time? I don't know, I'll understand later.
Also, there are many happy parts in the film (in fact, I don’t know if it’s a drama, a musical or a music and dance).
After reading it, there is nothing. It seems that I need to read more and improve a lot in the future. After the second brush, I believe it will definitely be different, hahaha.
