"Everyone starts by defining your own definition of success, and with those specific expectations we have of ourselves, we are more likely to succeed. In the end, it's not about what you get, or even about you. What you give depends on who you become." --Mary Gates
My impression of Bill Gates is still "Microsoft, English textbooks." After I left the society, I always felt that the technology stars in the United States were Apple and FB, and Microsoft didn't seem to be that powerful.
I heard about the Gates & Melinda Foundation and thought it was a general charitable foundation. Unexpectedly, they directly changed the world with technological innovation, maximizing the utility of every penny.
If it weren't for the recent divorce, Gates might not have paid much attention. But thanks to the gossip, I set a goal for myself. "Gossip" must be first-hand information, not marketing accounts and gossip media.
Only in this way will we see deeper and better people ❤️
Record a few points that impressed me:
- Got a laugh at Buffett's "diet theory"?
Buffett: "I discovered my favorite food when I was six years old and never had to explore it again. Every time I put a lot of salt on a burger, and then I gorged on it."
- Gates and Paul Allen started a business together, they are like a lot of good buddies who do business together. At first they were all close as brothers, but later their differences in personalities gradually emerged, and they eventually parted ways.
This reminds me of FB's Zuckerberg and Eduardo Savalin. With billions in your twenties, everything changes.
- "Listen to Mommy!" That's all too true for Gates.
If it wasn't for her mother's insistence that he meet Buffett, Gates and Buffett's friendship wouldn't have developed, and the two would never have hit it off. And Buffett is not an ordinary friend, he is the big sponsor of the Gates Foundation! Later Gates' big plan to save the world will require huge financial sponsorship.
"In that shell, he was a gentle and warm-hearted person," Melinda said.
Gates' mother is a socialist and a caring ambassador, educating her children to contribute to the community from an early age. Therefore, Gates also inherited his mother's enthusiasm, and he benefits the society with the technological innovation he is good at.
In Gates' super mansion, Meilin said that she was very scared and didn't know who would come in from which door. Gates often travels on business, and the big house is only her and her daughter.
I heard that some couples in rural areas have improved their relationship by building a house. Because of the distance, there are fewer quarrels.
That Gates couple may be the opposite.
In the first episode, the Gates began to adjust the direction of the foundation only after reading a New York Times reporter's report on "drinking water is deadly in a third world country" at breakfast. The reporter himself said that most people don't pay attention to these daily news, but the Gates and his wife pay attention to and put it into practice, which is really moving.
Gates reads a lot, and he reads a lot of books that most people can't understand, and some books are boring. However, books are always looking for people who can share the same frequency with it. Even if the same book is the same, you may give up after reading the first page this year, but if you turn to the next year, you may not be able to put it down.
Gates has always been committed to improving the earth. One of his favorite writers ridiculed Musk: "Whoever wants to go to Mars like Musk, we will stay on Earth and not leave."
Director: "If you were hit by a car and 'died' today, what would make you say "God, I wish I did, but I haven't""
Gates: "Thanks Melinda!"
Looking at the photos of Melinda when she was young, she and Gates are really happy boy & happy girl, a natural pair!
There is a saying on the Internet that Gates and Melinda got married because Gates's mother liked Melinda very much, and Gates got married because of her filial piety, but I want to say that my mother is really good-looking!
Thanks for the gossip, for giving me the opportunity to learn about the "sages" who benefit mankind in our time.
