After watching "Father Trapped in Time", I was really touched. Whether it is the well-organized set, the heart-wrenching soundtrack, and the rigorous plot, I can completely put my emotions into this story. Anthony Hopkins' performance at the end of the credits is also particularly moving, making people willing to be broken. When I was young, I always loved to stay with the old people at home, because their wisdom can accommodate all my willfulness. When they grow up, the old people are also a lot duller. Sometimes after we greeted each other, they recognized me as someone else. My heart is congested, time can be beautiful, and of course it can be painful. I remember a friend who said: There are two saddest things about getting old, one is when you get home but there is only an empty house, and the other is sitting on a reclining chair without anything to remember. If I say: old age is completely sad enough.
relative's weakness
Anthony's self-esteem made him reluctant to cooperate with his daughter's willingness to find a carer for him, even though he suffered from severe Alzheimer's disease and could not take care of himself.
After getting angry with the third carer, he temporarily moved into the house of his daughter and son-in-law. And such a family is destined to cause more conflicts. The son-in-law couldn't stand Anthony's mental illness and stubborn temper. It is believed that his presence will only burden the family in vain. And the son-in-law can think of "the best way for him" is to send him to a nursing home. Indeed, in the eyes of others, Anthony is an unreasonable and uncertain eccentric. Only the eldest daughter still retains her love for her father in her heart. This love is not only a reward for parenting, but also distressed for a fragile old father. The eldest daughter has to plan the future of herself and her lover, and at the same time coax her father to take care of him, which is the most tangled role in the whole film. Olivia Colman's performance in this play has touched me as much as Mr. Hopkins.
I remember a scene in the film where my daughter fell through the cup, so she knelt on the ground and tried to put the fragments back into the cup, but the fragments fell back to the ground from the break in the bottom of the cup. This is like the brain of an Alzheimer's patient, the memory of the newly acquired memory is fleeting. Specifically, when the daughter finally found out that all her patience with her father and all her attempts to restore her father's memory were in vain. There were times when Anthony would speculate on his daughter's efforts with the most malicious thoughts, but at this point she had nothing to do.
own powerlessness
Is Anthony really unaware of the gazes of his daughter and the people around him? I don't think so. After he "debunked" his daughter's "conspiracy" in front of the nurse, he fantasized about her daughter strangling him to death. After he overheard his son-in-law's complaint, he also imagined that his son-in-law would humiliate him. He has always had guilt in his heart, but he was unable to confess to his relatives because of his self-esteem and mental condition. He struggled to blame himself, giving his daughter a shy thumbs up. After a period of time, after denying the fourth and last carer that his daughter found for him, the daughter's family finally decided to live in Paris, leaving Anthony alone in a nursing home in London.
dependencies and crashes
The most provocative point of the whole film is the relationship between Anthony and his daughter. Old Anthony never wanted to leave his daughter. The constant mention of watches is the image that best reflects this. The watch is Anthony's most trusted item and his peace of mind. And throughout, he can find the watch every time his daughter shows up, and when the daughter leaves, he can't find it for various reasons. Anthony begins by complaining that the third carer stole his watch, implying that the carer stole where his daughter was supposed to be, who was supposed to take care of him. It is even more thought that the son-in-law took away his love in an open and aboveboard manner. When he woke up in the nursing home, his daughter had gone to France, and he never recovered his watch. Lost peace of mind, then collapsed, crying.
the end of self-esteem
At the end of the credits, Anthony realizes that his memory is deceiving him. The loss of time and space forced the proud, stubborn and coquettish old man to lose all sense of security for himself. He was curled up in the nurse's arms, like a newborn boy unwilling to leave his mother, a desperate patient unable to let go of the nurse's hand, like a middle-aged man unable to accept the fact that his daughter died. He sobbed, because what was once certain had returned from the familiar to the unknown when he was born. But at the moment, no one can let him continue to rely on him, and neither can he. The trees withered leaves are all bare branches, look, it looks like a naked old man.
