Sigh that the social progress in the past century is too great! The events of the beginning of the last century alone seem strange and distant. At that time, black people were not people, and black women were not as good as a DOG, struggling in the quagmire of being raped, enslaved, and trampled. The story spans 30 years, and the times under the lens are changing, as if bits and pieces under the glacier are melting and proceeding silently. The buds of resistance and the shining humanity slowly awaken the dying souls. Once awakened, it is a new life.
I'm something I hope you think that you're something too.
The words Shrug sang to Celie seemed like a light. GOD Knows.
A film about oppression and slavery, but it is not repressed, even full of tension of life and singing of freedom. This is probably Spielberg's skill. I like the warm and kind shrug, and the shy and forbearing Celie. My favorite is Sophia! Punch after punch, so cool. At the last quarter, the goddess returned to her place, cool. The film is worthy of this Friday night.
