I believe that everyone who has watched CB and loved this work will have a vague feeling that CB is destined to be a work that cannot be shared with others or is unwilling to share with others, because the emotional world presented by CB is So complex that its projection in everyone's heart is so unique and precious, like the reflection of a dream in the water, the process of sharing is tantamount to prying into the hearts of others, while also stirring up one's own pond.
Why is this so.
I haven't seen much anime, but I dare to say that there are three big mountains in anime, which are difficult to climb by so many works - EVA, Ghost in the Shell and CB.
Attack in the Shell and CB represent the extremes of works interpreted in the two directions of "Reason" and "Emotion" respectively, and EVA is in between. That is to say, CB is a work without a so-called motif, and its purpose is not to promote a specific moral concept and transmit a specific value system, like other general genres. It is a pure work without any ideological task, merely presenting a possible picture of life in a way that can be called perfect from every angle.
CB is not a typical "magic work". Compared with other excellent anime, CB is closer to the production and expression of movies. It uses "camera action" instead of "scenario action" to construct the plot tension and expression outside the scene. Emotional contagion. For me, who prefers movies as an expression vehicle, this touches on the essence of cinema.
In addition, the minimalist and exquisite line design avoids the audience's meaningless attention loss to the greatest extent, so that they can concentrate more on the image itself, that is, the expression outside the text (the lines in CB have the most expressive desire and the most exposed emotion. The clip should be a note to Meteor at the end of episode 13, where CB rarely uses the metaphor "Tears of a Warrior" with obvious emotional tendencies).
Not to mention that throughout the whole play, the music production of Yoko Kanno of a very high level, blues, jazz, rock, funk, etc. covers almost all musical styles, you can hear the Bono like u2, the sting of the police band and so on. A mashup of similar styles, not to mention the subtle connection between episode titles and the content of each episode. Audiences familiar with rock music should be able to see that the title of each episode is the title of the song.
In addition, the rich cultural elements involved in the play will not be elaborated. The above is my superficial understanding of CB from an objective point of view, and the part of my perceptual understanding of CB cannot be shared with anyone.
Maybe many years later, I've already left the house and forgot where Fei's hometown is, and what kind of eye Spike can see in the past. But after returning from get off work, before walking into the house, sitting alone in the dark in the car and being silent, I should think of a man on a spaceship called BEBOP who has a bad fortune. The woman, a companion he doesn't think he needs, and the child and dog he once bored, are floating somewhere in this universe.
