Be unkind and regard the United States as a humble dog

On April 11, 2019, Assange lost his seven-year political asylum due to the replacement of Ecuador’s top leader and was arrested in London, England. This behavior of the British police inevitably makes people suspect that it is some kind of transaction with the US government, because the US government has already issued a wanted for Assange and wants to get rid of it soon.

The scene of the entire arrest was very ugly. Assange was almost carried out, sweeping the floor gently.

Why does the US government want to catch Assange so much? On the day that Assange was arrested, the US Department of Justice disclosed the complaint against Assange in March 2018. The case was "in conjunction with Manning, conspiring to steal and release confidential documents that pose a threat to US national security."

This complaint has 7 pages and describes in more detail that in January and May 2010, Manning and Assange used job opportunities to download 90,000 copies of Afghanistan operations files by cracking the passwords of high-level users. 40 Ten thousand copies of Iraqi operations files, 800 documents from the black prison at Guantanamo Naval Base, and 250,000 internal telegram documents of the US State Department.

In short, the reason why Assange annoyed the US government was publicly disclosing on the Internet the invisible scandals and evils of the United States during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which had a great impact on the foreign and internal affairs of the United States.

What is the connection between the war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq? Why did the two wars have so many ulterior scandals? Why did the US government launch these two wars?

You can find all the answers in "Vice President".

And you will meet a key figure who twisted everything together: Dick Cheney, a man destined to leave a huge shadow in American history and world history because of his actions.

As a bystander of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, I must say that at the time, due to my age and vision, my understanding of the two wars was extremely limited and full of deviations.

The cause of the incident can be attributed to the 9/11 incident.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, US Eastern Time, two civil airliners hijacked by terrorists crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, USA. The two buildings collapsed after being attacked, and the other five buildings in the World Trade Center also collapsed. The earthquake collapsed and was damaged; at 9 o'clock, another hijacked passenger plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, USA, causing partial structural damage and collapse.

This incident shocked the world and completely changed the United States. For the details of this matter, you can refer to the reportage "The Tower of Murder".

Among the many influences, the most direct possibility is the war in Afghanistan. This is a U.S. retaliatory war against Al Qaeda and its ally Taliban, the initiator of the September 11 incident, aimed at eliminating these terrorists.

Although this is also full of many inaccurate factors, but in general, this war is at least famous.

Another war against Iraq is extremely far-fetched.

The United States claims that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction and is secretly colluding with al-Qaida terrorists as a reason to bypass the UN Security Council and carry out military strikes against Iraq.

But the result? The whole world has seen that the US military has not found the so-called weapons of mass destruction from Iraq. This is just a fictitious excuse.

The war wasted huge amounts of fiscal revenue, and caused the casualties of soldiers, the suffering of local people, and the collapse of the political ecology.

Later, it was also revealed that prisoner torture, torture and other frenzied cascading effects.

What kind of person can control the US government to such a point?

The movie begins with Dick Cheney’s youth. A drunk Cheney, driving a car, was stopped by a traffic policeman.

This is not only a profile of Cheney's youth, but also a metaphor. How dangerous is it for an irrational person to drive an excellent machine? We can see it later in the movie.

Judging from the movie's narrative, Cheney was saved by his wife. At that time, he dropped out of Yale and worked a part-time job. Cheney, who was so drunk all day, decided to make a change and do a decent job after his wife's words.

Within the scope of the movie, such a shift is reasonable. Because Cheney's wife's fascination with power and attitude towards secular life were enough to influence Cheney at that time. This is reasonable as a method of film and television expression, but this is also my first dissatisfaction with this film. It made some important turning points in Cheney's life too superficial. Reasonable, but not convincing enough.

In fact, I believe that the director wanted to portray this couple as the protagonists of "House of Cards" like Shimogi and his wife, but he showed his humanity too frivolously, and even overused his cleverness. Cheney and his wife have the temperament of the Xiamu couple but without their souls.

The most overwhelming scene was the Cheney couple reciting the lines of "Richard III" in bed. Although at the beginning of the movie, the director told us that he had put in the best effort to restore the characters' hearts, but he still used the mouth of the narrator in the movie to say what he couldn't imagine what the two people said that night.

So he used Shakespeare's lines very cleverly and appropriated them to the two of them. The actors in bed are like couples in life, but they say very dramatic lines. Indeed, this scene is quite interesting, and this kind of deconstruction does let us know that in this scene, the husband and wife must have talked a lot about power and future vision, and deepened the image of the characters.

But is it appropriate?

Although this movie is a political satire comedy, if you always play smart at this critical moment of character transformation, there will be satire and comedy, but there are only a bunch of symbols left. The perceivable person disappeared.

Let's take a look at what's done in "House of Cards". There are many such plots in "House of Cards". Shimogi and his wife are facing political challenges and opportunities. The two need a dialogue to reveal some profound changes in their hearts. In the simplest way, the director only needs to design a scene where two people smoke a cigarette in the middle of the night window to complete such a dramatic task. Through visual actions such as smoking and lighting cigarettes, the two people are shown the relationship between husband and wife and allies, and they exchange their political plans and ideas with each other in the dialogue texts that seem to be daily chats. Simple, efficient, and at the same time incredibly touching, it makes people not only see the tenderness of the two people, but also fear and excite the evil in their hearts.

Designs like this are everywhere in the play, which is why the characters portrayed in this play are so vivid and profound.

In contrast, I have to say that the cleverness of "Richard III" is not advanced and might even weaken the character.

The director tried his best to show the kind of transformation that Cheney has made step by step from a low-level party member to the actual controller of American political power. But the appearance of this transformation requires humanity and politics as the foundation. It's a pity that the director was smart at first in showing the key points of humanity, and at the same time he was too simplistic in showing politics.

It cannot be said that this simplicity is completely bad. Because of the complexity of politics, the director chose several paragraphs similar to caricatures to show Cheney's process of gaining power, which is actually quite clear and clear. But if you put this kind of local vividness into the whole, you will inevitably find that the whole process seems trivial. Political playfulness is also a criticism of the film by many people, which greatly weakens the realistic foundation of the satirical film and makes the satirical passages somewhat lacking in laughter. ,

Because of these two points, this movie has become fragmented, as if only a collection of one after another is left. We do see a change in a man who plays with power, but we have a vague idea of why he is so. Although Bell’s performance in the movie is indeed impressive, the contradictions in Cheney’s body are also intriguing-including his and his wife so conservative but deeply in love with their gay daughter, giving her great support-but still unable to Leave a complete impression. I think this is very much related to the director’s indulging in his own hippy ironic tone. In his witty jokes, he cut a character into collageable pieces, as if he It is not the ordinary audience who wants to present the film, but the contemporary art gallery.

This is also the biggest drawback of many modern directors. They enjoy the self-righteous taste too strongly in the film, and forget to establish the basis of feelings shared with the audience.

Even so, it is still worth commending the director's skill in collage material and audiovisual editing. The whole film still maintains the overall harmony of the rhythm in a large number of staccatoes and variations, and the sense of pleasure when watching the movie is great.

In general, "Vice President" introduced us an important person who changed the United States. If you are interested in history and war, you may continue to think about and study the impact of this character and the war he caused on the world after watching the movie. For those who don’t care about politics, the film uses wonderful collage of symbols and a bright narrative rhythm to bring enough entertainment.

Is the truth really as cruel as in the movie? The truth may only be more cruel than what is shown in the movie.
