As a movie in the 1990s, its pictures are actually good, the quiet woods, the seaside under the sunset, the classroom under the light and shadow, and the brightly lit Kochi City. Its music, especially the saxophone, is a beautiful combination of piano and strings. It's not a movie that wins with substance, but a prose that wins with detail and nuanced emotion. Let me talk about some of my thoughts below.
Rikako is arrogant and aloof, because he was hurt by his family and doesn't like the protective color of this place in Kochi. (Some people say that it is because she spoiled Miss Tokyo, and the dark line of going to Tokyo shows her character formation) She also has her own vulnerable side. On the surface in Tokyo, she says that her family has changed a lot, but she actually understands that her father's family in Tokyo has already accommodated her. Can't let him go. She threw herself in Qi Tuo's arms and drank stuffy wine, all of which showed her vulnerable side. She pretended to be stupid in front of her ex-boyfriend, and when she learned that her ex-boyfriend and her best friend had formed a new love, she spit out the truth in Qituo Hotel. All of these performances, what I see is that Rikako, who understands her goal (returning to Tokyo) and surpasses the mentality of her peers, is also Rikako's own growth. In the end, Rikako disregarded her mother's objection and was admitted to a university in Tokyo. She went to Tokyo to find him "there is a person sleeping in the bathtub waiting for me", which showed me the love of a mature adult Rikako for Saki Taku. . (The indifference of adults is everyday, but there are also some who hide their most sincere emotions in their hearts and reveal them to others from time to time)
As for Matsuno, what I see is a man who values love and righteousness (calls his best friend), is brave (raises objections), and retreats despite difficulties (Rikako said that she doesn't like men from Kochi, but Matsuno actually understands what she likes It's Takuya Saki)'s shy boy. He punched the male protagonist because he didn't cherish Rikako well for his boyfriend, didn't take the opportunity well, and hated him for missing it. At this point, it's really youthful. It's really hard to see that my friends are cowardly, incomprehensible and miss the people they like.
Saki Taku, what I saw was a boy who had a crush on others and didn't dare to express his heart. (Seeing that Rikako's eyes were enlarged, he was actually attracted, and he took the initiative to accompany Rikako to Tokyo. Rikako pretended not to care when he confronted others.) He bought Rikako's swimsuit photos, both of which were beautiful to Rikako. The good impression has also been deeply attracted by Rikako. While walking by the seaside with Matsuno, I saw that it was Taku Saki, who knew that Matsuno had a crush on Rikako and had to hide that he also liked Rikako. And under the castle of Kochi, the smile on the corner of his mouth, I saw that it was Saki Taku who woke up from the haze and suddenly realized.
As for the image of Xiaobin's good girl, Yamao counseled (did not raise his hand when he opposed the cancellation of the trip), but finally dared to confide in his heart (I like Xiaobin), Shimizu was a peacemaker, persuaded Rikako, and tried to help Rika sub into the collective image. Constructed a group portrait of high school, all this film I think is for everyone who has high school time.
The plot starts from the male protagonist's collection of the female protagonist's photos, which the male and female protagonists miss at the station, to the male protagonist's fantasy about the old high school when they see the splendor of Kochi Castle, and finally the male and female protagonists meet at the station. The back-and-forth plot makes this film a seamless one. Interspersed with the main part of the movie (high school memories), it seems plain, it seems that the male and female protagonists are indifferent, but there is also a kind of sadness that they deeply like each other but are difficult to speak, causing high school to not be able to be together. How many people are like this. And while watching Kochi Castle, Takuya Saki's flashbacks to Rikako also resonated strongly with me. Who doesn't want to be like this, and the person they like is together at that time.
As for the walk between Takuya Saki and Matsuno, what happened to them at the class reunion, they watched clips of Kochi Castle together, making Kochi not only a place where they grew up, but also a spiritual hometown full of high school memories. At this point, it hits the heart and resonates strongly.
Let’s talk about other things. Maybe it was weird that I asked Zaki Taku directly to borrow money from Rikako at first, but through Rikako saying that Matsuno has said, I can actually understand that Rikako should know more or less about Zaki Taku. As a man, he also knows the fact that he works part-time. However, the author's method of leaving some blank spaces is also easy to cause some people's doubts. But here we use "writable" to complete it.
It is also worth mentioning that the mother forcibly took Rikako and her younger brother away. Saki Taku’s mother said that regardless of the exam, the mother would definitely take the child away. Saki Taku thought that Rikko’s mother was selfish before, but after Tokyo, he felt that Rikko would be selfish if he stayed in Tokyo for the exam. All of these can be answered through Shimizu's words, "It was because my previous world was too narrow." Everyone's position is different. Instead of refuting each other, it is better to broaden your own vision and learn to tolerate and understand.
Speaking of Shimizu, it would be nice if I met my classmates I hated in the past. This reconciliation, forgiveness, and nostalgia speak our minds through the words of Shimizu.
I also want to mention that Rikako and Qi Taku fought each other. Qi Taku thought that Rikako was causing trouble for him, but Rikako was angry that Qi Taku didn't understand his intentions. How many young people in reality are not like this, this is also a resonance.
As for Rikako crying and returning to the hotel to throw at Takuya, Takuya thought that "more exaggerated than a series" is a kind of self-mockery of the movie itself, which made me smile.
And zoom out the picture, let the picture go away little by little, to illustrate the end of a memory. It is even more suggestive that this is a thing of the past, just a thing of the past.
And Rikako's apology for bowing at the end is not only a thank you to Takuya for helping her (borrowing money from Hawaii, going to Tokyo together, and letting Takuya pretend to be her boyfriend in front of her ex-boyfriend for face), but also to Takuya as her spiritual Thanks for the good memories, but also an apology for my previous self-willedness and pretentiousness.
Finally, let's talk about the name of the movie, whether it is the sound of the sea or the sound of the waves. The sound of the waves is not only the daily life of Kochi, a small seaside town, but it also refers to the sound of the waves in the hearts of people, especially high school students (Matsuno, Takuzaki, Rikako). And it's also the sound of the waves that echoed when we grew up recalling our high school days.
——There is someone I want to meet in Tokyo. Guess who is who? That person! It's someone who sleeps in a bathtub.
