Wrong Turn (2021) is a flop. It is a reboot of this horror IP, also called the seventh episode. The first episode of this series (2003) was a low-budget hack and slash film, which was rare for horror fans with its simple and crude plot and bloody and cruel pictures, so it made a series of sequels (most of which were directly released on video tapes).
Time has changed, and after more than ten years, hack and slash movies seem to be out of fashion. This reboot version has gold borders and hugs the thigh of "Escape from the Dead"! A once simple movie is covered with buffs such as racial issues, same-sex discrimination, regional prejudice, ideological differences, etc., and it can be turned into a demon and a crazy output! I find it both disgusting and sad that Hollywood has made an exploitative film into what it is.
The movie is nearly 2 hours long, but it's not scary at all. Maybe the director has long forgotten that this movie is supposed to be a bit of a frightening entertainment film, not a political commentary that rambles about the crap in America. The actor of the father in the film is Matthew Modine, who became popular in the 1980s and 1990s, starring in "Birdman", "Full Metal Jacket", "Cry of the Century", "Cut Throat Island" and other weights It's a high-level movie, but unfortunately he has been unable to help him. Maybe he lacks the willfulness and lace news that Hollywood stars should have! Seeing him again this time, he is already a thin old man!
