Although Kobayashi Masaki has not many works in his life, the following three masterpieces are enough to shake the film industry.
1. The film "Cut of the Belly" is highly praised by Western audiences. First, in addition to embodying the convincing spirit of Bushido, it also captures the essence of "Rashomon", successfully integrating these two aspects into one. A work of great mastery has been accomplished. Rather than saying that Zhang Yimou's "Hero" imitated "Rashomon", it would be better to say that it imitated "Cut the Belly" more.
Second, "The Sword of Death" is still of a high standard. The duel between Mifune and Nakadai at the end is very tragic, and Mifune's wild and rough performance adds a touch of sadness and regret to the tragedy.
3. "Strange Talk" As a ghost movie with a long history, Kobayashi made the audience sit tight and linger with its three-hour film length. Although the plot of the movie develops so slowly, it does not feel tedious and boring at all. It is a work with high artistic quality.
In the end, I sighed in "Strange Talk: Black Hair": Love and hate are deep, and when the word love comes out, it is really wrong!
