The rain is coming, the wind is filling the building

A film as beautiful and imaginative as prose and poetry. Edith is like the middle-aged version of Lin Daiyu, who has removed all the little girl Lin Daiyu's thoughts, she is gentle, stubborn and fragile. The most touching thing in the movie is that Robert rushed out of the house in anger at his own powerlessness. He said that when his father died, he was asked to take good care of his mother, but he failed. There are always things in the world that people can't achieve even with their efforts, such as the death of a loved one. Robert is indeed a strong child. He even took his mother on a boat to see the stars. By telling imaginary stories, he let his mother know that he would take care of himself.

With the stormy atmosphere and precarious background throughout the film, Edith's home is like an ark, where Edith and Robert, Edith and Basil, Peggy and her husband, Peggy and Edith's younger brothers Rory, Basil and Wife, Basil and Robert, Basil and the archaeological giant, the details and delicate feelings of these relationships are imprinted in my mind as a viewer in a way that the sound and picture are out of sync. Pride and class also exist in the archaeological world, major discoveries in the British archaeological world, people on the eve of the outbreak of World War II, Edith's fear of death, Basil's understanding of life and death and archaeology, Peggy bravely grasps the current pursuit, and describes the relationship between people. In addition to the relationship between the two, these big issues are also included in the film.

Thousands of years pass in the blink of an eye, and everyone turns to dust, but the life trajectories of all the individual individuals who have passed make history, and are left to future generations to discover.

  • Basil Brown: Robert, we all fail. Every day. There are some things we just can't succeed at no matter how hard we try. I know it's not what you want to hear.

  • Basil Brown: Mark my words May. I won't receive any credit. I won't even be a footnote.
