The Searcher and Cao Amo

Western is my favorite type of movie. It depicts the cowboys, gunmen, giant thieves, sheriffs, fighting against the barbarian, sticking to morality and conscience, and ignoring death, immersing the audience in modern society. Long-lost blood courage and sincerity, experience the essence of human beings.

The searchers, Chinese called searchers or sunset sand, starring John Wayne in 1956, is a classic in the classics of Western films. After the Civil War, the veteran was disarmed and returned to the fields, but how could he, who was used to killing, calm down and let the cattle farm? The frontier is also not very peaceful. The mutual attacks between Indians and whites also gave the veterans the sustenance of their lives. The killing skills of riding and shooting can be used on the Indians. The war between the pioneers and the aborigines made both sides experience the pain of their homes being destroyed and their loved ones killed. The veteran's younger brother was also wiped out by the Indian family, and his little niece was kidnapped. The veteran's only goal in life is to take revenge and find his little niece. He and his surviving nephew wandered and searched everywhere for five years, and finally found a little niece in the Indian tribes on the Mexican border, but the little niece was already an authentic Indian woman.

During the five-year search for relatives, the veterans witnessed enough tragedies: the burned Indian villages, the bodies of women and children everywhere; the white immigrant caravans full of arrows, scalped, and corpses in the wilderness; the powerful chief of the past said blankly "My son also died in battle"; the white women who were kidnapped by the Indians in the prisoner of war camp were shaggy, wrapped in feathered blankets, and looked terrified, no different from the Indians. The veteran must never accept that his little niece was defiled and turned into the Indian he hated the most. His family-seeking path gradually turned into a murder-seeking path.

Facing the little Indian niece who was waiting to die with his eyes closed, he could still see the cuteness of childhood, but he couldn't do anything. The old soldier sighed, picked up his little niece with his gun, and said softly, "Debbie, let's go home." Compassion and blood kinship can make the ruthless killer let go of his thoughts of revenge and racial hatred. It is the brilliance of human nature. The veteran saved his blood relatives, but I want to say that Cao Cao is greater than him, and he saved someone else's daughter.

Let us travel from the wild west of the United States to Guanzhong in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. The rebellion of Dong Zhuo led to the death of Cai Hu, and the subsequent rebellion of Li Cui Guo Si caused Cai Hu's daughter, Cai Wenji, to be taken captive to a bitter and cold place outside the Great Wall. It was in 195, the second year of Xingping, when Emperor Xian of Han fled to Luoyang in embarrassment, and Chang'an was destroyed by fire. Whether Cai Wenji was kidnapped by Li Guo's Qiang rebels in Chang'an or was kidnapped by the Huns on the way to flee eastward following Emperor Xian is impossible to verify. However, from her poem "Zhuo Zhong came to the east, the golden armor shines in the sun. The people of Pingtu are fragile, and the soldiers who come are all Hu and Qiang." It can be deduced that it is more likely that they were kidnapped by Li Guo's troops in Chang'an. She was sold to the tribe of King Zuoxian of the Xiongnu and became a slave, where she lived for twelve years, and gave birth to a son of mixed Han and Hungarian blood.

Cao Cao's own poem "Haoli" also described the tragic situation of Dong Zhuo's rebellion: "Thousands of surnames died, their bones were exposed in the wild, no roosters croaked for thousands of miles, and one hundred people were left behind. At the same time, he also continued to launch continuous wars until the end of his life. He is a murderer and a lover. He is a mixture, a contradiction, and cannot be named for good or bad.

Twelve years later, in 207, the eleventh year of Jian'an, Cao Cao defeated Wuhuan, deterred Liaodong, and killed Yuan Shao's three sons. I speculate that it was during the battle to defeat the Wuhuan that the news that Cai Wenji was living as a slave in the tribe of Zuoxian Wang of the Xiongnu was leaked by the Wuhuan prisoners. Cao Cao was shocked, and Wen Ji returned to Han. However, the question arises. Cao Cao and Cai Wenji have neither blood relatives nor deep friendship with Cai Hu, and human tragedies can be seen everywhere in this troubled world. Why does Amo still do this? I came up with the following reasons:

First of all, the most dangerous enemies Yuan Shao and Lü Bu have been resolved. The only remaining opponents are Liu Biao, Liu Bei, Liu Bei, Ma Teng, who is temporarily subdued, Sun Quan, who is hesitant, Liu Zhang, Zhang Lugong, Sun Kang, who is a foreigner. All despised by him. Relatively speaking, these opponents are no longer in mortal danger. Cao Cao felt much more relaxed and had a little more space.

Secondly, I recalled that in the past, Chang'an and Cai Hu also had literary advice, and they were considered literary friends. However, in this chaotic world, the literary friends died in misfortunes. What's worse, the daughter was also exiled to the Xiongnu as a slave. Cao Cao was a writer and a poet, and his compassionate human nature was inspired by this misery and played a role.

Thirdly, the Xiongnu people licked their hair and drank blood, and were sent to the left to follow the grass and animals. The Han people regarded them as barbarians and had obvious racial discrimination against them. Today, noble Han women have become slaves of barbarians. Cao Cao must do something in terms of national self-esteem to save the face of the Han people. This is very similar to the veteran in the searcher.

Fourth, through this hostage rescue operation, the literati and literati can be admired, the people can return to their hearts, and the barbarians can be convinced. This is a big plus for Cao Cao, who is huge and eager for talents, and it is a good support for his image.

Fifth, the cost is not large, no need for the disaster of swords and soldiers, no need for protracted time, only gold, silver, yellow and white. The recent series of victories have brought Cao Cao a lot of harvests. From Yuan Shao and Wuhuan's treasuries, cattle, sheep, and slaves, Cao Cao is able to master the economy with ease. To redeem a female slave, even if the Huns knew a little about the background, they would not embarrass Cao Cao because of military might and greed for money.

Sixth, this is a bit awkward and involves Cao Cao's privacy. During his youth in Chang'an, Cao Cao had some literary contacts with Cai Hu, he also went to Cai Mansion as a guest, and had several encounters with Cai Wenji. The blue-hearted Cai Wenji became the goddess of the young Cao Amu. However, Ah Hui is from the eunuch, and he is also a beginner in literature and a newcomer to the officialdom, while Cai Hu is a national context and is famous all over the world. The gap in status makes Cao Cao admire but can only be speechless. Afterwards, Cao Cao's fierce military and dangerous politics slowly made Cao Cao buried this affection, until he suddenly read the name of the goddess when he read the Military Intelligence Bulletin at night. For the love when he was young, Cao Cao came to the rescue; for the love when he was young, Cao Cao arranged the follow-up life and husband for Cai Wenji who returned to Han. With Cao Cao's status and busyness, why should he worry about these children's affairs? Simply put, because of love.

Cao Cao is also a searcher, and if the veteran encounters Cai Wenji, he will definitely help. Compassion and redemption for the weak, no matter ancient or modern, the brilliance of this humanity is the same.
