Many people compare this show with the Big Bang Theory and IT madmen, but in fact, "Silicon Valley" is very different from them.
First of all, "Silicon Valley" is a series with a very clear main storyline. It is a passionate entrepreneurial story to remove the comedy elements. From a small website to a big company, from an otaku to a CEO, the plot itself will not be boring. I don't know if the screenwriter has written the following plot. If so, this drama will have great potential, at least it has more room and tension for later development than simple sitcoms.
Secondly, its laughter is closely related to Internet culture, which is mainly set by plot and character, as well as a kind ridicule of programmers, investors, and startups. For example, the gender ratio of programmers, driverless cars, plagiarism, etc. In particular, the irony is that words must change the world. "Make the world a better place" has appeared no less than six or seven times in this drama, which has the ridiculous flavor of "universe brand cigarettes". There is also the SO-LO-MO (social/localization/mobile) permutation and combination, which is even more sarcasm for the blind follower of Internet companies.
Against the background of the popularity of crime dramas, this drama has chosen a tech otaku as the protagonist, which in itself makes people shine. These nerds are not the kind of messy things among IT madmen, but entrepreneurial young people with ideals in mind. Although there are occasional heavy jokes, they do not hinder the positiveness of the whole series. In addition, Silicon Valley is also very creative in the production of soundtracks and titles. The overall impression is that it is very delicate and full of personality.
In addition, there is basically no emotional line in the first season, which is relatively rare in American TV series.
In short, I personally think that this is a conscience drama with a special flavor, which is very worth watching.
