It's unbelievable that 20 years later, a director still sells love and responsibility so hard in a movie.
And in such a deliberate form, the image of a son is simply a standard symbol representing family affection.
Although this is a movie with a game as its selling point, the director is very divided and forced into the elements of family and love. Rather than using the form of games, the director prefers to show the psychological changes of the male protagonist. A down-and-out middle-aged man goes from degenerating himself at the beginning to being most inspired by love to save the world.
Psychological characterization is very detailed, roughly three stages:
1. The playful mentality at the beginning is very similar to me who was blocked and gave up by the small boss level before the console game;
2. Desire for love and affection, and find clues from his ex-wife
3. Pick up responsibility again, learn actively, and save the world
However, the director's rhythm was so slow that the length of the film was increased to 100 minutes.
For example, this dialogue between the boss and his ex-wife, I understand that it is implying the theme - the power of love, but it is still too long. There is also playing with my son. I thought it would be helpful for customs clearance, but it turned out to be just pure play. These plots that are not related to the main line seriously affect the rhythm of watching the movie.
Originally, this is not a big movie, the picture can only be said to be average, the brightest point may be Gatlin? However, I have even seen Gundam, what's the point of mere Gatling?
Let's talk about the style of this film, although I tried my best to add game elements, but apart from the beginning and the interlude, the game elements were not clearly shown through the screen, and there was no fun in form?
The most important thing is that the form and theme of this film do not match, game and love, isn't this nonsense?
ps: What the director did not explain was why the male protagonist had a bug in the game when he passed the game console, misleading me into thinking it was a game character
