about lust, about restraint, about emotional and sexual repression, about trust and betrayal. . .
What does one slip into an eternal hatred? Perhaps the most depressing thing in this world is the gap between reality and ideals; that is, one cannot do whatever one wants, and that is the contest and contradiction between emotion and reason.
Sheba is a good woman. Beautiful, innocent, kind, and, of course, responsible; but she made two fatal mistakes: failing to restrain her years of repressed emotions in front of young and handsome students, and, most tragically, trusting someone who shouldn't be trusted.
As we can imagine, Shiba is of good origin and very well educated. Once she was young, beautiful, and had many suitors. Such a girl must yearn for a colorful, romantic and wonderful life. And our Shiba doesn't have to watch her old husband day in and day out, and take care of mentally handicapped children. The provocation of the young student made her lifeless heart rekindle the vitality of youth and ignited the long-lost passion. This is normal. Humans are strange animals. When it is too turbulent, I long for a peaceful life, but when it is really calm, I always want to seek stimulation. This is the paradox of being human.
Shiba's inner changes were normal; she was wrong in putting her feelings into action. She couldn't restrain herself. Everyone has the urge to be a bad person occasionally, but most people just think about it. The brave Shiba took action. Maybe that feeling is wonderful, but compared to the fear and anxiety after the fact, we have to say that this wonderful price is too great (this is the conclusion I have watched several extramarital affairs movies).
Poor Shiba, even though she and the boy had to face the predicament, the boy said, "I can't help you." I wanted to be a woman, that moment was very helpless. Anyway, it was just a child.
Here, I think what saddens Sheba the most is not that she made a big mistake that led to her jail time and the loss of her family; the biggest damage may be Barbara's hypocrisy and betrayal. She was relatively calm when we saw her case being revealed; and when she read Barbara's diary, she was completely insane and hysterical. She couldn't imagine why a person she regarded as her confidant was so ugly and vicious?
Shiba's life has since deviated from the normal track; she had to endure the double torment of inner pain and public opinion. Is it possible for people to be flawless? It's just that some mistakes are really hard to bear. Therefore, it cannot be said that one must be careful in life, but what should be restrained should still be restrained, and what should be avoided should be avoided.
Shiba had to suffer in prison for 10 months before facing a broken life. And Barbara has already looked for her next target. Richard may transfer to another school, soon find a new girlfriend, be young, and leave behind the female teacher he once had a crush on. The school is still in order, and colleagues occasionally use her as a chatter after dinner.
But the pain remained in Shiba's heart and could not be erased.
