#Les Miserables# The first feature film lined up in Cannes in 2019
We can't easily define anyone in this movie as right or wrong or good or bad, because life has so many sides, it's inexplicable. A little boy who threw down the powder bottle just threw a roar at the adults who had hurt and threatened him. But as described in the movie, people are dissatisfied and will vent their anger, but this does not help in exchange for the same amount of attention. Even so, no one could quell the anger and shouting. And only the land under our feet is truly qualified to be called "innocent injured".
No matter how good-hearted a person may be, placing him at the center of violent conflict and being devoured by violence day and night, he will eventually be converted into the most devout believer of violence. However, we only saw him rudely treating underage smoking girls; we only saw that he chose to protect himself instead of saving people after a colleague accidentally injured the child; only to hear the sentence "If you are weak, you will be attacked", and we conclude that they have broken hearts The wicked people, then we, by definition, are precisely creating the birth of this violence.
Young forces fight against the police and gangsters in groups, and children fight against adults, it is like the old forces of power iteration are subverted by new forces. "The decline of a generation, the rapid rise of a new generation, younger, more ruthless, and less slack". As an audience, I can't help but question the political and cultural history of the city in front of me, as well as the enduring issues of democracy in the West. As long as the gap between the rich and the poor does not die, the contradiction between class antagonism and even racial antagonism will only intensify. But the world itself is not balanced, and continental blocks are never evenly distributed across the world. The world is also incomprehensible, and anthropology and sociology can only sigh.
In fact, I had a lot to say when I just finished watching it last year, but the shock made the language pale. It's hard to believe that this is a debut work, with such a high degree of completion, the script is comprehensive, and the shooting techniques and scene scheduling are so skilled and calm. The second time I watched it, I still couldn't feel the existence of time at all, the rhythm was controlled very well, and the ending was also perfect, and it stopped when I clicked. A lot of wobbly hand-holding allows the viewer to feel the turbulence of the event, and combined with the aerial photography that drives the plot (yes, I hate pointless aerial photography most of the time), the overall distribution of the structure of the photography is also very balanced. Truly one of my favorites out of so many new movies last year.
