Would like to talk about the dynamics of the plot

It took two days to finish the first and second seasons of The Mandalorian in one breath. As a non-Star Wars fan, the story of The Mandalorian is very friendly to newcomers, and the audience can be substituted into this grand universe view without watching the previous Star Wars series.

The story lines of the two seasons are very clear, the first season is to rescue Baby Yoda from the danger of being hunted, and the second season is to find it for the baby. From this point of view, the sense of urgency in the first season is greater than that in the second season, because the existence of forces that threaten the core characters of the plot (the remnants of the guild and the old empire) keeps the plot in a sense of crisis.

But in the second season, the real-time crisis was lifted (until the last few episodes), and the protagonist embarked on a journey to find clues for the baby's belonging. High when bounty hunters go around hunting down fugitives. In order to stick to Mandalore's creed, the protagonist decided to send the baby back to its race, but such a main quest could not whet my appetite. Just as the white dragon horse was sent back to the stables in Heaven, even with a grand background, it is difficult to make up for the lack of power in the ending.

In addition, the enemy's combat power is too rude (except for the monsters in some episodes), which also makes me feel like watching an anti-Japanese drama. The top armor and various weapons make the protagonist become a hero from the very beginning. The existence of open hanging, when facing the whole team of stupid stormtroopers, destroy the enemy like mowing the grass, like walking in the enemy ship and base, after solving the enemy and destroying the scene, even if it is destroyed by more than a dozen I can easily get away with the gun pointed at the head, and this setting made my sense of expectation for the plot also reduced a lot.

But it is undeniable that The Mandalorian is indeed an excellent work, with top-notch special effects, dazzling planetary style, clear dialogue, and a brilliant soundtrack. All in all, I think it is a work that does not hide its flaws.

I hope the next season will have less stormtrooper scenes, it really feels so stupid haha.

Chapter 9: The Marshal quotes

  • The Mandalorian: They're laying out a bantha to protect the settlement. They've studied its digestion cycle for generations. They feed the dragon to make it sleep longer. Watch, the dragon will appear.

[a Tusken Raider howls; with a rumble, the krayt dragon appears and devours it, ignoring the bantha]

The Mandalorian: They might be open to some fresh ideas.

  • Cobb Vanth: What are the bones?

The Mandalorian: That's the krayt dragon.

Cobb Vanth: And those little rocks?

    The Mandalorian: That's us.

Cobb Vanth: It's not to scale.

The Mandalorian: I think it is.

Cobb Vanth: Can't be. That's too big.

The Mandalorian: [signing with a Raider] It's to scale.

Cobb Vanth: I've only seen its head and neck. It's a whole lot bigger than I guessed. Might be time to re-think our arrangement.

[after signing with Mando, a Raider adds more little rocks]

Cobb Vanth: That's more like it. Where are they getting the reinforcements?

The Mandalorian: I volunteered your village.
