Sarah originally lived in India with her dad. But the war broke out, and Sarah's father was going to the front line to fight. Sarah's father sent Sarah to Mitchell Girls' School, and handed Sarah over to Mrs. Mitchell's care, promising to give Mrs. Mitchon a lot of money remuneration. On Sarah's birthday, news of Sarah's dad's death on the front line came, and the government took away his property and company. When Mrs. Mitchell knew the news, she took away all of Sarah's things, let Sarah live in the attic and made him a servant. One night, Sarah's friend stole Sarah's necklace and gave it back to Sarah. Another night Sarah's friend went to Sarah's attic to listen to Sarah's story, but was found by Mrs. Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell saw that Sarah wore the necklace around her neck, thinking that Sarah had stolen it. Also called the police to get Sarah. That's when Sarah met his dad. But his dad lost his memory and didn't know who Sarah was. When Sarah was taken away by the police, his father suddenly regained his memory and remembered his daughter Sarah. Eventually Mrs Mitchell became a chimney sweep and Sarah and his dad returned to India to live.
