Most of the complaints are that the plot is unreasonable, unrealistic, and does not conform to the characteristics of primitive life.
In fact, this is a story that points at the shortcomings of the times, borrows the past to satirize the present, and especially mocks today's tearing American society .
In a simple and crude way, the Civilized Family represents the left-wing elite in the United States, while the Gollum family represents the American right-wing grassroots. The lifestyles of the two families are extremely different, and their political ideas are even more different.
The parents of civilized people looked down on the Gulu family at first, and the Gulu family could not adapt to the life of civilized people. The film has almost blatant hints about the hypocrisy of the left and the candor of the right, and I won’t go into detail here. The civilized sister Xiaoxiao and Gollum's sister Eap revealed in the film become friends, which also reflects the director's wish that the young people of the two factions can abandon their prejudices, open their hearts, and accept each other; it has laid a foreshadowing for the ending friends of the parents of the two parties.
In the end, the two families ushered in a happy ending, which is of course the best hope for the current tearing problems in American society.
Personally, I don't think it's a big problem to get an 8 for this movie. After all, the screenwriter only needs to read the 2015-2020 US news hotspots to describe the basic characteristics of the two families, lol.
