"The Loch Ness Monster": a cup of milk tea not prepared for children

The "Loch Ness Monster" screened in the Spring Festival is another fantasy blockbuster carefully prepared for children.
Perhaps there have been too many fantasy blockbusters in the past two years. In addition, "Transformers" has given a shot to the sluggish film market. Investors are more confident that children's money will always be better earned. However, what kind of experience can this film bring us?

The little boy Angus went to the battlefield because of his father, and the bleak and decayed hometown is always filled with ominous tranquility. Lonely, he accidentally picked up a "stone". Don't underestimate this stone, it is this thing that hatched the "Loch Ness Monster" that shocked the world decades later. The little monster gave Angus the warmth he could not enjoy elsewhere.
But the growth rate of the little monster was much faster than Angus' imagination, and the family was requisitioned by a team of Nazi officers and soldiers. In order not to let them find the little monster, Angus decided to put the little monster into the pool of water in the forest.
"There, will it be free?" Angus murmured, looking at the familiar figure in the distance...

Director Jay Russell's 1988 filmed the first independent production of "Life and Death" (END OF LIFE) did not receive much praise, and instead began to direct documentaries, and he can often be seen in "DISCOVERY". Many years later, the director of "My Dog Schipper" and "The Loch Ness Monster" have achieved 70% similarity from the background to the characters and even the setting. Perhaps the biggest difference is that one is real One of the dogs of the world is a virtual water monster.
Another worth mentioning in this STAFF is the well-known Weta Workshop who made 3D special effects for "The Loch Ness Monster". I think that when Weta became famous in the first battle, it originated from "The Lord of the Rings". Although it also appeared in "Supernatural Ghosts", the Weta Workshop, which created the vast and magical Middle-earth with only blue screens and miniature models, has become an existence that should not be underestimated since George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic .
At the 78th Academy Awards, Weta won five nominations for Best Makeup, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Effects, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction, and also won four awards except for Best Art Direction.

Vita is characterized by the depiction and meticulous attention to detail. 3D has become an indispensable part of the huge film industry. This year's full three-dimensional appearance of Pixar's "Chef Mouse" once again proved that 3D animation can be guaranteed in terms of technology and content, and can make further breakthroughs.
Thanks to the support of Weta Studio, this film is not only exquisite and gratifying, but also many scenes such as explosions and deep water are eye-popping. In comparison, the special effects of the fourth part of the "Harry Series" seem too petty.
In terms of appearance, the water monster of Walden Company is not much different from the traditional western dragon, but its appearance is a little more modest and thrifty, so it is more like a snake-shaped pterosaur in the Cretaceous era. It is said that in order to determine the image of this erratic Nessie water monster, but the crew had a lot of brains.

The air in the UK is humid, the climate is bizarre, and the terrain is variable. The old castle in Scotland Yard is always prone to some strange associations. Those gentlemen and ladies who hide under the thick felt in our impression are guarding the fire all day long, as if they have an advantage over others to unleash their strange imaginations.
From "The Lord of the Rings" to "The Chronicles of Narnia", "Harry Potter" and "Nice Monster" in previous years, the British talent for fantasy is surprisingly good. Even the literary master Dickens has created magical legends for children. If you go back further, you can trace back to the imaginative legends of witches and wizards who danced in the sky, wore black pointed shoes and pointed hats in the Middle Ages.
The original author of the story, Dick King-Smith of England, is one of the most popular children's book authors in the UK in recent years. Born in 1922, after twenty years as a farmer, he turned to work as a village teacher and began to write books for children. He claims that his book is a kind of farm fantasy, his favorite animal is a pig, and even his favorite work is the "Pig Baby".

"The Loch Ness Monster" is a film of differing opinions, and its strengths are as obvious as its flaws.
Measured from an adult's point of view, it seems a little naive and boring. You can even guess from the poster that this is another feature film with the theme of "love and courage". For children, the pursuit of authenticity in certain details makes the film too heavy for them to restore the memories and scenes of World War II.
For example, in order to fit the atmosphere of the novel, one party, as the third party of the narrative, elicits all the stories and fillers. But the narrator's too calm and profound tone of thinking is obviously not something that children under the age of thirteen can easily understand.
In fact, the biggest failure of this film is to try to please parents and children at the same time, and make himself a different person.
In order to highlight the brutality of the Nazis, the film contains a lot of bloody and violent scenes, as well as some parts that are not suitable for children at a young age; and in order to attract minors, the film has made great efforts to portray the relationship between Angus and the water monster and Conflicts between him and his surrounding partners, etc. The delicate balance between tenderness and sensationalism is not well grasped.

Some viewers complained that it was a "long and boring movie" after watching it, while some viewers said "I would never let my children watch this film alone." There are also many people who relish the comparison of this film with the famous "E•T" or even "The Chronicles of Narnia".
But I think it is more like the new remake of "Nobita's Dinosaur" this summer. The same dark and miserable little green potato-like child meets the human-friendly monster dinosaur. After some twists and turns and experiences, the child grows up and understands love and responsibility in the experience, and finally the monsters return to where they should go. But in comparison, "Nobita's Dinosaur" and "ET" are much warmer and brighter. Not so much violent conflict, not so much cruelty and blood, and not so much darkness. Suffering is a condiment and not a meal. Just like the bitterness in milk tea is never heavy.
Perhaps, in winter, what children need most is milk tea rather than coffee. Caramel macchiatos should still be in Starbucks for adults to enjoy.

    Female Tourist: What is that?

Male Tourist: It's a famous picture of the monster. But it's fake.

Female Tourist: How do you know it's fake? It looks real.

Old Angus: Oh, it's fake alright.

Male Tourist: Of course it's fake. Everyone knows that.

Old Angus: We'd know, son. There's more to that photo than meets the eye.

    Male Tourist: Oh ho, really.

Old Angus: Well, if you'd like to know the real truth.

Female Tourist: Yeah, I wanna know. Come on, it'll be fun.
