Plot combing (starting from the male protagonist's family going to the first airport):
The male protagonist learns that his family has been selected - Neighborhood (unselected) riots - Arrives at the airport - Disappears for some reason - Reunites with the heroine's father's house - Departs again - Arrives at the shelter by plane - After the catastrophe the rest of my life
It is interspersed with many old routines such as good and evil of human nature, life and death decisions, etc. It is not difficult to see the different reality behind the old routines (ethnic conflicts, gun possession, etc.), of course, it is just a presentation. As a (perhaps) impure popcorn movie, the director has no intention of going further, so it is just a presentation; it also incorporates many American life scenes and American values, such as the heroine's father who lives in Lexington, who owns a farm, has Guns, you have to die in your own home - an "American" image that integrates American values, of course, is only the second-level content in the film. The biggest impression this film gave me was a modified version of the Bible story and a modified version of Protestant ethics. From the imagery of fire from the sky, the God-shaped Greenland that resembles the Promised Land, to plots such as the escape from the apocalypse, the voters abandoning the people, and a group of people fleeing to the refuge, all of them emphasize to the audience the religious core embedded in the narrative. The male protagonist's family was selected, and for various reasons, he lost his eligibility to vote, and finally reached the promised land through his own efforts. It smells so comforting.
It is no exaggeration to say that this film is old-fashioned, and what it wants to convey is not profound. Nevertheless, in many plots, this film escapes the good and evil of human nature, and focuses on showing the complexity of human nature; it escapes from simple individualism, and partially emphasizes community values; it sets up several flashes of human nature, such as black brothers, military doctors, soldiers, etc. If it's a pastime, I feel that it doesn't want to be a popcorn chip consciously; if I look at it seriously, it can't hide its weakness in all aspects. In short, just look at it and choose what you like to eat~
