As high as heaven is, as deep as hell

The great irony of life is that when it teaches us how to choose, it gives an exercise title - "fish and bear's paw". But when we really face life, what we need to choose is fishbone and bear bone - seemingly the same predicament, in fact, it is very different.

Whether you choose fish or bear paw, you choose beauty, whether you choose fishbone or bear bone, you choose suffering. What a cruel reality, not only destined to throw us into endless torment, but also to let us wander painfully in two different torments, and deceive ourselves to look for fish or bear's paw in the constant pain that will eventually come, And, to smile.

They could have gotten married; they could have grown old sweetly and plainly; they could have read sad stories together and bemoaned that their characters were not as happy as they were, or read happy stories together, And glad that the people in the story are just as happy as they are.

So there will be no Jane in this world, there will be no immortal "Pride and Prejudice", but there will be a pair of real lovers, no one will remember their names, but they are with the world.

There is no Plague War in Jane's novels, no To be or not to be, there are just the little happiness that life did not give her.

So what? Real pain is never comparable, only the pain we feel inside. It is the lack of this little happiness that makes this sensitive soul experience the most intense sadness in the world. When this sadness has no battlefield and plague to face, and some are just sweet and moving pastoral scenery, it turns into a silent tear and falls into each of our hearts, let us savor it carefully. That's what's so great about this movie, when you don't even know where the sadness comes from, you're already in tears.

Becoming Jane...you can be Jane Austen, you can have the applause of the world, but you can't get the man who is close at hand.

As high as heaven is, as deep as hell is. There are as many immortal beauty in this world as there are painful souls.

Don't think of it as Austen, it's still a more beautiful love fairy tale. But this is Austin, and she would never have had such a story anyway.

Hathaway's accent is still not well learned.

Becoming Jane quotes

Tom Lefroy: It was... It was accomplished.

    Jane Austen: It was ironic.

  • Jane Austen: This, by the way, is called a country dance, after the French, contredanse. Not because it is exhibited at an uncouth rural assembly with glutinous pies, execrable Madeira, and truly anarchic dancing.

Tom Lefroy: You judge the company severely, madam.

Jane Austen: I was describing what you'd be thinking.

Tom Lefroy: Allow me to think for myself.

Jane Austen: Gives me leave to do the same, sir, and come to a different conclusion.
