During this period of time, I re-watched the autobiography and movies of the old man Takeshi Kitano, and finally I never liked it to a complicated love, and I was quite patient in order to reverse my opinion. With the two gunshots on the seaside in "Hana", I wrote: Those places that make you feel warm are accompanied by a longer-lasting despair for life. The futility of the search for meaning and the sense of doomed fate make the enjoyment of violence even stronger. The innocence added to these tragic trends exacerbates the inescapable emptiness and powerlessness in life.
Kitano's expression of violence likes to omit the process and present the result. His violence is sometimes comical and sometimes bloody, and this directness gives people a more comfortable pleasure. The male protagonists in "Fireworks", "Big Brother" and "Sonata" have not escaped the fate of using violence to solve problems, and their over-reliance on violence leads to a sense of relief when violence occurs. And the wonderful place is that, for example, the small games played on the beach in "Sonata", sumo, kabuki, bead tube, Frisbee, traps, these interesting tender moments, accompanied by Hisaishi's soulful music, although on the surface It is very comforting, but there is always something uneasy brewing behind it, and these uneasy things can only be resolved through violence itself. This is a fate doomed to tragedy.
The childishness and violence in the film are contrasted, but instead make the despair of life further romantic. Like Takeshi Kitano in "Sonata" who chose to blow his head with a gun, violence has become the character's way of getting rid of grief. When predictable things happen, he will take the initiative to buy tickets to hell.
"Fireworks" won the Venice Golden Lion Award in 1994 and is my personal favorite Takeshi Kitano. The male protagonist Xi Jiajing, a person with criminal tendencies who likes to resort to violence to solve problems, has been wandering between good deeds and bad deeds, and there is a strong sense of contradiction between his behavior and identity. It is a policeman who lives in a mess, his daughter died, his wife has leukemia, his colleagues died and injured his colleagues because of his mistakes, robbed banks with loan sharks, and took his wife to a pointless escape.
The story is very simple, but the presentation of despair is incredibly enjoyable.
Not only in this movie, in fact, all of Kitano Takeshi's movies are full of disgust for life and despair for the final outcome of life. The wonderful point is that this kind of tragedy is unbearable at first, but after complete despair, it further strengthens the pursuit of hope in reality, and makes a more tenacious struggle against boring life. This is the reason why I didn't love Takeshi Kitano at first, but now I enjoy Takeshi Kitano even more. I agree with people who are completely pessimistic. It is easier to live a positive life and to cherish beauty more.
Personally, I think old Takeshi Kitano's hot life in reality proves that the last two shots of "Hanawa" are not aimed at himself and his wife. He finally accepted this despair, so that in reality he lived a gorgeous life instead of destroying like fire. . Takeshi Kitano is not a warm old man, and his movies are not warm either. Takeshi Kitano said in the tavern: A car accident was a turning point in my life. Since then, I have lost my attachment to life. Destiny is not something that can be controlled by my own power. No matter what kind of fate is waiting for you, you can only Accept silently.
