Respect for bravery, sincerity, and freedom

When I watch it, I always wonder if I will be as lonely and helpless as Fern when I get old, should I also find someone to build a family, live and work in peace and contentment, have children, and pass on the lineage. The kind of ancestral peace that most people live in.

Even after being on the road for years, Fern still thinks about it. David's family was warm and harmonious, and everyone liked Fern very much, but in the end she chose to leave. Glad that David is still able to start "living under the roof" again, which is really a good thing for him, if he's having a good time.

Fern also has a house, facing the vast plain, where she can also live. She went back to have a look, everything she was familiar with was in front of her eyes, and the vast backyard she had told her friends on the way was still there. But, in the end, she chose to go.

For Fern, the lonely and free state of walking alone on the road can make her feel relaxed and at ease.

Everyone has their own way of life, and everyone has the right to pursue it, but everyone has different choices. Some people choose the safer way, the easier way, the way that makes others look happier; while some people choose the more risky way, the more turbulent way, the more miserable and miserable way in the eyes of others. Everyone's choice has its own reasons, and each choice will have pay and gain. The only criterion for choosing the right one is whether the choice can make one feel comfortable and comfortable.

What is more sad than wandering alone in a foreign land until old age and death is that although many people have a lot of marriage, family, money, fame and fortune, they still occasionally feel empty and lonely in their hearts. There were still countless peaks waiting for him to climb, so he kept climbing like that, obviously he was extremely tired, but he had no time to figure out what he was doing every day and what he wanted, until one day, when he turned around, he suddenly found , his life has come to an end.

In "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty", Mingyue wrote about the top dignitaries and splendors of a dynasty, the top political battles and the ups and downs of the sea, and finally summed up one sentence: there is only one success - according to your own way, go live life.

There are a lot of people in the world like Fern who have to go on the road. People feel like they are homeless, but in their hearts, the world is home.

Kudos to these people for their bravery, sincerity and freedom of heart.

Nomadland quotes

  • Swankie: I'm gonna be 75 this year. I think I've lived a pretty good life. I've seen some really neat things kayaking all of those places. And... You know, like a moose in the wild. A moose family on the river in Idaho and big white pelicans landed just six feet over my kayak on a lake in Colorado. Or... Come around a bin, was a cliff and find hundreds and hundreds of swallow nests on the wall of the cliff. And the swallows flying all around and reflecting in the water. So it looks like I'm flying with the swallows and they're under me, and over me, and all around me. And little babies are hatching out, and eggshells are falling out of the nest, landing on the water and floating on the water. These little white shells. That was like, it's just so awesome. I felt like I've done enough. My life was complete. If I died right then, at that moment, would be perfectly fine.

  • Fern: Bo never knew his parents, and we never had kids. If I didn't stay, if I left, it would be like he never existed. I couldn't pack up and move on. He loved Empire. He loved his work so much. He loved being there, everybody loved him. So I stayed. Same town, same house. Just like my dad used to say: "What's remembered, lives." I maybe spent too much of my life just remembering, Bob.
