The Loch Ness Monster - When the Legend Becomes Real

The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep.

After watching the trailer of the film, I always wanted to watch this film, because this kind of old-fashioned storyline is a scene that I began to dream of when I was a child, and I always thought that such a water monster was intertwined with reality. The story must be fascinating.

The basic skeleton of the film is simple. The old man's memory, the lonely little boy Angus picked up a strange egg by the Loch Ness, hatched a water horse in his father's studio before he died, and finally grew bigger and bigger, and had to release Loch Ness. However, the main line of the film is not the monster, but the innocence and growth of the little boy, which warmly presents the story of an ordinary little boy and the people around him in the context of World War II. On the surface, it is the visual impact of monsters, but it is actually a return to the purest part of human nature.

The film has had two main themes since its inception: war and love (and, of course, can be further expanded to include death and human emotions). For this film, it is neither a war film nor a love film, but war and love are the two major backgrounds of the film. These two backgrounds, like the beautiful lakes and mountains in the film, make the story more emotional and full.

In 1942, World War II was in full swing. Although the war did not advance to Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands, the troops stationed there still smelled the thick smoke of war, and everyone was suffering from mental torture. The torture is no less than a physical trauma. In the film, the child's father died on the battlefield, but the child still looks forward to the return of the father he no longer knows every day, which destroys the tranquility of the old town by the Loch Ness, and the rumbling sound of the cannon makes the water of the ancient Loch Ness change. Nervous and manic.

I thought that the treatment of love in the film was just right, lightly, but not revealing. Although the widow who lost her husband had difficulty in going abroad and longed for the help of a man by her side, she tried her best to suppress her emotions. The hazy feelings of the little boy's mother and the repairman and the officer add just the right amount of color to the film. Isn't this feeling the best?

I love ordinary and peculiar stories like this. Ordinary people do not have a beautiful appearance and do not attract attention, but how rich is his inner world? More importantly, it is related to our life, straight to our real life, straight to our real emotions. Among these magical films, I don't like "The Lord of the Rings" very much. Of course, the reason is not that it is bad, but maybe my appreciation level is limited and I can't appreciate such a story from another world that is not related to real life. Similar to the "Loch Ness Monster", it connects fantasy and our real life!

I saw a lot of comments saying that the plot is simple and it is a children's film. It is true that the main line of the film is a little boy, but can you always take a high-level attitude and think that you are mature and complicated? William Worthwords said: The child is the father of the adult, how can childhood and innocence be abandoned? Moreover, how can the complex background and emotions presented behind the film be summed up by "the plot is simple, it's a children's film"?

In addition, most of the beautiful scenery in the film is actually not filmed in Loch Ness, Scotland, but Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. In fact, the mountains of Scotland are also beautiful places. One of my all-time favorites is "My heart's in the highland" by Robert Burns:

My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;

My heart's in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;

Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe--

My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North!

The birthplace of valor, the country of worth;

Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,

The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.

Farewell to the mountains high covered with snow!

Farewell to the straths and green valleys below!

Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods!

Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods!

My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;

My heart's in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;

Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe--

My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

    Female Tourist: What is that?

    Male Tourist: It's a famous picture of the monster. But it's fake.

    Female Tourist: How do you know it's fake? It looks real.

    Old Angus: Oh, it's fake alright.

    Male Tourist: Of course it's fake. Everyone knows that.

    Old Angus: We'd know, son. There's more to that photo than meets the eye.

    Male Tourist: Oh ho, really.

    Old Angus: Well, if you'd like to know the real truth.

    Female Tourist: Yeah, I wanna know. Come on, it'll be fun.
