I gave it three points purely because this movie is always about a story of betrayal for a love affair, but it is also worth watching.
Most of the shots of the movie are beautiful, and the soundtrack is also very immersive. Hester's frowns, smiles and every move are so elegant, and the portrayal of many psychological activities fully expresses Hester's inner contradictions. William knew Hester, he loved her in his own way, their marriage was unremarkable, they shared interests, and perhaps shared roughly the same family background. On the surface, they were an enviable couple but lacked passion. The love that fades with time is always boring.
The first time she saw Freddie, her throbbing heart boiled. Falling hopelessly into this young and energetic embrace, she chose the latter in the face of morality and love. For this love, she said goodbye to her husband who had been with her for many years. Without a good and stable material life, it was worthwhile for Hester, just because she loved him. The film's portrayal of Hester's inner turmoil is very successful.
Love is always fascinating, but life is always flat.
We all want to be passionate, but also learn how to live.
