ISIS occupied the Iraqi city of Mosul from 2014 to 2017. In those years, the only group that continued to fight the occupiers was Nineveh's SWAT unit, made up of locals who were either wounded or had family members killed by ISIS. Mosul in Canahan pays tribute to these fighters, whose incentives are very personal. Cava (Adam Bessa), a 21-year-old police officer, has just passed a firefight. After the smoke clears, he meets the life-saving man, the Nineveh SWAT team led by Jason (Suhail Dabbach). Kawa's uncle was recently killed by ISIS. He joined the group, even though they had dwindled to just a dozen people, with just three Hummers and extra cigarettes. Before the first day of SWAT with Nineveh is over, Kawa will witness the rescue of a child and the death of several colleagues, take revenge on the man who betrayed him, and take part in an ambush of an ISIS fortress.
