A suspense was set at the beginning of the story, a little boy opened his eyes wide and looked at everything in front of him in disbelief.
Going back to two days ago, I talked about the happy life of three people living in a wealthy area of Manhattan. His wife Grace is a typical Bai Fumei, his father is a rich man, and he is also a senior psychological consultant in the industry who graduated from Harvard University. Her husband, Jonathan, is handsome and a Harvard-educated childhood cancer specialist. Son Henry likes the violin and attends an aristocratic school with an annual tuition fee of $50,000.
Then came to the auction committee to raise funds for Henry's school. Several middle-class mothers gathered to discuss the next fundraising activities. At this time, an uninvited guest with a baby came. Not only did she not fit in with the group, she even stripped her clothes to breastfeed her child in public. When the auction arrived, everyone came on stage gorgeously, and the big-breasted girl in front, Elena, also came, with the attention of the audience, and had a strange conversation with Grace in the elevator when they left.
Then Irina's son Miguel (studying in a noble school) did not go to school on time by the school bus, but went to his mother's studio to find his mother, only to find that his mother died tragically.
Now the question arises, who murdered Elena? The police launched a comprehensive investigation for this, and finally, the suspect was locked on Jonathan. Because Jonathan appeared on the surveillance camera near Irina's studio on the night of the murder, and it was investigated that he and Irina were lovers and had an illegitimate daughter. But at this time Jonathan was missing, and the phone was left at home.
This is the plot of the first two episodes, and today I saw the finale of episode 6 in one breath. The murderer was finally revealed, it was Jonathan himself, whom the police suspected in the first season, and there was no reversal. Now I want to talk about the understanding of the plot. As a suspense drama, the first 5 episodes have a lot of foreshadowing. Who killed Elena? Jonathan is the biggest suspect. Because Jonathan appeared in Elena's studio that night, and now there are Jonathan's footprints and Elena has his semen inside.
Secondly, Grace's performance is also very suspicious. On the night that Elena was killed, the surveillance also captured her walking in the nearby block. Combined with the previous encounter with Elena at the gym and the strange conversation between them, one can't help but wonder if Grace knew about her husband's extramarital affair with Elena, and what happened that night?
There are also suspicions about Elena's husband, who witnessed his wife and Jonathan's adultery outside Elena's studio. Although he was at home at the time of the incident, and the surveillance cameras near the incident did not capture him, he had an alibi. But the one who can prove that he is at home is his son who is sleeping at night. There is no surveillance at the back door of his house, there is not much surveillance near the studio, and there is no surveillance indoors. There is no guarantee that he went out through the back door while his son was asleep, avoided the surveillance near his wife's studio and entered the door to murder and avenge his wife's derailment.
This is the suspense set in the TV series, which is very fascinating. But I think the final ending is too hasty, only saying that the murderer is Jonathan, without explaining the suspense. There is a bit of an anticlimactic feel. Could it be that his wife Grace was completely unaware of her husband's infidelity? Why did she recall her encounters with Irina countless times before? Why was she able to walk near Elena's studio in the middle of the night? Is it really so coincidental?
Secondly, Jonathan, as a Harvard-educated doctor with high IQ, why didn't he immediately destroy the tools used to commit the crime and throw them into the lake when he killed someone. What's it like to put a modus operandi in the haystack of a lake house? Also, with his IQ, shouldn't he kill people step by step and live a normal life? Doesn't it prove that he has a guilty conscience if he flees?
In the end, the TV series didn't solve the problem that Elena's husband didn't have a complete alibi.
In addition to the plot, I think the TV series has two outstanding points. The first is a description of Jonathan's narcissistic personality. The second is that the lawyer drama in it is very good. Let's start with Jonathan's narcissistic personality. It can be said that Jonathan has a very strong ability to manipulate people's hearts. The first is the manipulation of his wife Grace. He has cheated and had an illegitimate child. He can also persuade his high-IQ wife to release him on bail of $2 million, and hire Hai Li, the most expensive lawyer in the history of the United States, for him. It can also make his wife choose to trust him in the face of such a serious suspicion of him, and have the idea of continuing to live with him. He almost succeeded in convincing his wife that his derailment and having an illegitimate daughter were just a matter of human nature, and he did so without killing anyone. It can be said that Jonathan is the leader of the PUA industry and can sit on the top spot in the marketing industry. The second is his performance in court sessions again and again. He showed his guilt for his wife and family, and his love as a child professional doctor. Besides, the lawyer scene in it is really wonderful. Lawyer Haley knows how to confuse people, divert conflicts, and preemptively. It really not only made me sigh, but in Western countries, rich people really can do whatever they want, turning black and white.
After watching the whole drama, my feeling is that this is not a successful suspense drama, but the human nature it portrays and the description of the lawyer's lawyer's lawsuit are very interesting. Overall, it's still pretty good.
