The director's hint, all at the last minute

After learning that this is an adaptation of a true story, I changed the 4 stars to 5 stars. This is probably the only 5-star movie in my viewing history this year.

(First, the true story goes like this: fake gold mines, big scams, huge fortunes evaporated, no one was convicted.) So, how to tell this story depends on—

How do you stand aside?

[The first kind of standing on the side] The white lotus who lost everything to gain friendship.

Respect the true story and no one is convicted, then the protagonist of the story cannot be a villain. He is crazy, neurotic, ridiculous, delusional, simple... In the end, he lost everything and gained the friendship of a liar. The ups and downs of Bai Lianhua's life have earned the audience's sigh and sympathy.

Is he really innocent? The director is very smart, step by step, and at the end of the story, he tells you: "I don't know either." All of this is just one-sided remarks in the face of the FBI investigation. The FBI believed it. As the audience, you can make your own judgment.

In fact, at this point, the story is already exciting enough. But the director is absolutely there. For this magical story, he is not neutral, he chooses the other side.

[Second standing by the side] All villains.

There are no dreamers, only one actor with a burst of acting skills. The director buried this thread very deeply, and you may ignore it if you are not careful. Until the last minute, a 5-second shot, a word from a neighbor, made you suddenly grab the buried thread——

Friendly neighbors.

Friendly neighbors?

Friendly neighbors! ! !

That is, the neighbors did not buy the stock! The story told to the FBI is false!

Following this thread, backtracking a little bit, ah, the original director's hint is hidden here: Why did I persuade my colleagues to sell the stock many times? Why stroking a tiger's head like a fairy tale? (Fantasy linkage "Youth Pie") Why can you get huge gold sand just by shaking it in the river? Why do gold miners work for free every day to purify water? ...

Following the thread of the neighbor, you pull out the thin thread buried by the director little by little. It suddenly dawned on me,

It is difficult to tell a story without taking a stand and tell it well. The director is absolutely there. At first, you think he has a position, but in the middle of it, you find that this is a self-report by the male protagonist (the director has no position), and finally you realize that the position entrained by the director has brought a wonderful reversal.
