endless sadness

I watched it three times, the first time was purely because the pictures were too beautiful, the second time I wanted to understand the story, and the third time I wanted to relive the mood.

In fact, I still don’t quite understand it, I don’t quite understand the choice of each character at every step, try to empathize, but my knowledge background and experience, my ordinary life, I still can’t understand it. I only feel the endless sadness, yes, it is a great sadness, there is no end, it must continue, I don't know why to continue, it must continue.

If you haven't read the original book, the movie may be an excerpt from it. I imagine that the end of the vampire civilization described in the original book is also a metaphor for the final destination of the development of human civilization. A lonely figure walks in the wilderness, drifting away.

This blockbuster animation is an out-and-out rarity, and I think it's hard to beat it. Western gorgeousness and Japanese classics, the sigh of love, the friendship of brothers and comrades in arms, and the forbidden love that is not blessed are all like D. There are contradictions and are stubbornly insisted by every character.

True legacy and independence.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust quotes

  • D: Stop right there, Meier. I'm taking her back, back to her family who loved her.

Meier Link: She knew I loved her best of all. You can't understand it. You've never loved a human.

D: I've never killed one, either.

  • [Japanese dub]

Meier Link: You should bear in mind, D, that your struggle to resist our nature can't last forever. One day, the urge for their blood will be stronger.

D: And when that day comes, another will hunt me. It's as simple as that.
