Even if it is a master of suspense setting like Xi Pang, his film will be slightly insufficient due to the changes of the times. The murder ending in the second half of Stranger on the Train seems to be too sudden, and the turbulent situation that was originally tumultuous with his death instantly subsided, giving people a sense of desire and dissatisfaction (Hey!). The first half of the Rear Window frequently switches between the peeper and the scenery outside the window, but the plot is unremarkable, and it is inevitable that it makes people go beyond the movie. In contrast, Rope, which is only shown by limited space and long shots, has always caught eyeballs, and has not given me a chance to be distracted.
There are several points that are impressive:
1) The close distance between Philip and Branton in the filming turned out to be a hint of homosexuality, rather than the British Bromance that I am familiar with. This is really another surprise given by Xi Pang after the heroine of the window took out Harper's Bazaar magazine.
2) The use of long lenses is very natural, and there is no sense of over-sculpting. When I saw two people talking at the dining table, I realized that the camera didn't cut through it. I must not be alone! Moreover, the way the camera follows the movement of the actors is also very consistent with the suspenseful atmosphere of the film.
3) In the end, the dormitory who preached the theory of murder became the one who sent the murderer into the hands of the police. Rubert never thought that his speech on Nazism would have such terrible results. The crime committed by the two outstanding students was like a resounding slap in the face, allowing him to see his previous irresponsibility and childishness. Perhaps regret will accompany him for the rest of his life.
4) Dramatic presentation fully develops the role of scene, dialogue, and camera, creating a dramatic space much larger than the dining room to the living room. It is also a one-act play, and I have only seen it in a certain episode of Doctor Who, Xiaoshi and Donna, outside of the drama. Although that episode really shocked me, I have to admit that I was fast-forwarding half of the 40 minutes, because the content was not expanded and it irritated my heart. Taking into account the time span between 2007 and 48, I have to say that 80 minutes is too good.
5) In the end, the only young woman who unexpectedly reacted was not Blondie! Is it because the protagonist has a different orientation? (...)
