There is also a very interesting story in the film. Brandon seems to be interfering in the relationship between Janet, David and Kenneth. At first, everyone may see Janet who only cares about fashion, so he will want to find a man to buy all kinds of good-looking clothes for himself. The girl who paid the bill, and the description of her in Brandon and Phillip’s mouth, should label her as it should be, so the audience might think that it might be true. Like Brandon said, Janet married David for money and abandoned Kenneth, but Later, through the conversation between Janet and Kenneth, it appeared that Kenneth mentioned the breakup, and Janet fell in love with each other after confiding his true self to David. This story arrangement is very interesting. In fact, the main story line seems to be irrelevant, but I personally think that this is actually another hint to tell the audience that there is no so-called inferior beings, that everyone has their own value, and we cannot define others subjectively.
Brandon thought that by doing so, Kenneth would get Janet back, but he didn't know that Kenneth had even mentioned Janet's breakup from the beginning. Brandon thinks he can control the lives of others, so he likes to command phillip who listens to his orders because of fear. This also reveals the core idea that I extracted from the film. No one is qualified to take the life of another person, or even to control, label a person preconceivedly.
Not a professional in film studies, let’s talk about a very amateur view. I personally feel that this movie is very realistic, the drama is just right, there are no excessive and unreasonable coincidences, the whole story develops very naturally, step by step reveals the inevitability of the truth to the audience and finally discovered by Rupert. It makes people feel that this kind of thing is likely to happen in your neighbor's house, among the classmates who are in class with you, and it is not far from reality.
This is my understanding of this movie. I just watched the movie, and it became the first film review in one fell swoop, intermittently, with many flaws. If you are lucky enough to meet readers, please forgive me, and thanks for reading, welcome to discuss.
