Growth is crueler than death

In a tree hole, a doe gave birth to a fawn and named it Bambi. After Bambi learned how to walk, he made a friend: a little rabbit named Sangpu. While Bambi was learning how to speak, he met a little skunk flower.

One day, Bambi’s mother took him to the prairie where the deer were foraging, and there, Bambi met his father, the king of the forest, and a doe similar in age to him: Fei Lin. Bambi also came into contact with humans for the first time on the prairie. They were hunting and all the animals on the prairie were scared away. In a bitter winter, Bambi and his mother went to the snow-covered prairie together, and found some newly sprouted green grass, which represented the coming of spring.

While they were eating the grass, Bambi's mother sensed that a group of hunters were approaching and told Bambi to run back into the forest. When they were escaping, the gunfire continued until Bambi ran back to his tree hole, only to find that his mother did not come back with him. As a result, Bambi wandered in the forest, calling his mother, but received no response. Later, its father, the King of the Forest, appeared and told Bambi that "your mother can't be with you anymore", and then took him away.

The earth rejuvenated, and the grown-up Bambi, Sangpu and Huaer met again. During the courtship season, the animals in the forest are all looking for a mate. Although the three of them all made up their minds not to "fall in love" like other animals, before long, both Sangpu and Hua'er met their favorite objects and began to fall in love.

Bambi thought that the two of them had no perseverance at first, but when he got to the riverside, he met Fei Lin and couldn't help falling in love. Later, Bambi also met another stag: Arnold, he also wanted Feline, and forced Feline to be with him. Bambi and Arnold had a dispute. Although Bambi was at a disadvantage at first, Bambi’s anger gave it strength and successfully defeated Arnold and pushed it down into the river below the cliff.

That night, Bambi was awakened by the smell of smoke from the human camp outside. Its father told it that many hunters entered the forest this time, and the animals must leave quickly. Regardless of his father's orders, Bambi decided to go to find Fei Lin. Feline was being chased by a group of hounds at this time, and Bambi also rushed to the scene in time, rushing up to the group of hounds to draw their attention so that Feline could escape.

Bambi climbed to the hill, and the falling stones suppressed the hunting dog's chase. After that, Bambi hurried away, but just as Bambi jumped over a river valley, the hunter shot it to the ground with a shot. Bambi, who was shot, got up with the encouragement of his father, and the two continued to leave the forest together. Later, they escaped the forest fire caused by hunters together and ran to a small island on a lake. All the animals, including Fei Lin, arrived there safely to take refuge.

Soon after, Feline gave birth to two fawns under the expectation of all the animals, and Bambi and his father were standing on a hill in the distance watching them. The king of the forest finally turned around and left silently, and the story ended.

Bambi quotes

  • Thumper: Whatcha gonna call 'im?

Bambi's Mother: Well, I think I'll call him Bambi.

Thumper: Bambi... Yep, I guess that'll do all right.

  • Flower: [about two birds fluttering around] Well! What's the matter with them?

Thumper: Why are they acting that way?

Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.

    FlowerThumperBambi: Twitterpated?

Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: you're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden, you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather; and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!

    Thumper: Gosh. That's awful.

    Flower: Gee whiz.

    Bambi: Terrible!

Friend Owl: And that ain't all. It can happen to anybody. So you'd better be careful.

    [points at Bambi]

Friend Owl: It could happen to you...

    [points at Thumper]

    Friend Owl: ...and you, and...

    [Flower looks at Owl shyly]

Friend Owl: Yes, it could even happen to you!

Thumper: Well, it's not gonna happen to me.

    Bambi: Me neither.

    Flower: Me neither.
