Since the name "Cold War" is so grand, the film should be more focused and sharper to criticize the camp led by the Soviet Union, instead of trying to downplay the differences between Eastern and Western Europe. Such a film has a low value orientation. Perhaps Europeans have been peaceful and prosperous for too long, distorting real history with their naive attitude.
In the film, the Polish people are well-fed and the protagonist born in the petty bourgeoisie sings and dances with the illiterate in the countryside? Superb artistic achievements are praised by Eastern European countries? Parisians use the consumption of other people's suffering as a communicative language? What a twisted and ridiculous depiction.
But there is no denying that the film is heartwarming.
