Text/Dream Book of Poetry
As a new reboot of "Hellboy", "Hellboy: The Rise of the Blood Queen" is not much different from the previous work in terms of story, but from the perspective of the finished film, director Neil Marshall obviously does not have Del Toro's directing ability. When the magical and treacherous charm turns into the bloody blood abuse, the style of blindly showing the bad taste is tantamount to throwing the script into the trash can, which makes the film can only bring people nausea.
As far as the story is concerned, Del Toro's version of "Hellboy" already has no small problems. The plot is rigid and routine, and it is difficult for the audience to resonate with an ugly hero image, which directly led to the planned trilogy. The "Hellboy" died without a hitch after the second part, but Del Toro's version still has its own shining points, different from Marvel's shock, Del Toro's strong personal fantasy style, compiled a The brand-new fantasy world view provides the foundation, and Del Toro also has a relatively good polishing of the image of the fierce appearance, but the image of the righteous Hellboy, so although the previous work is not satisfactory, it always has its own shining points.
However, how did "The Rise of the Blood Queen" "rise" after giving up the restart of the sequel to the trilogy? Not only does the movie have no new ideas in the portrayal of the protagonist Hellboy, but it just takes it for granted that there are various scenes that have been used by hero movies, and the villain, the blood queen, is also perfunctory. This so-called ultimate villain, her life and death, It just became a tool for the movie to advance the plot. The depiction of the characters is close to zero, and it is almost a non-existent existence. It can be said that the original problems of the movie in the plot have not been repaired in any way, and the story is lackluster.
At the same time, as director Neil Marshall's control of the overall rhythm was also a complete failure. For a new chapter that was not attractive enough, instead of thinking about making the plot of the story more compact, it filled it up. A large number of side flashbacks that are not absolutely related to the main line are just useless time-consuming branches, which make the movie more verbose. In my opinion, the director's cognition of the movie is only superficial and only needs to be provided. Enough bloody scenes can make people pay for the concept.
The failure of "The Rise of the Blood Queen" actually confirms that in today's superhero movies, although scenes still occupy a large proportion, the plot has gradually become a crucial part of a movie. Thanos is comparable to the god-like Iron Man. The reason why such movies have memorable characters is because of the blessing of the plot. When a heroic movie completely ignores the influence of the plot, it creates a perfunctory routine. The confrontation between good and evil, just relying on the external special effects to attract people's attention, such a heroic movie will inevitably be eliminated.
"Hellboy" has its own unique image of a baron in terms of characters, but this story is also old. It needs a more advanced adaptation and creation, instead of repeatedly rendering bloody, and it is not only that which prevents the rise of the movie. The blood that is too much is too much, but the mediocrity that is better than nothing.
